How can i clean my dog's teeth

Is there any good teath cleaning treats i can buy for her?

There any many things that you can look into.  One of the best products that we recommend in our store is the PetzLife oral care gel (or spray).  This gel is great because you just rub it on your dog's teeth and it does the work for you over the period of a couple of weeks.  We find the gel to be more effective than the spray, but both work well.

There are also many dental chews on the market -- My dog really likes the Zuke's dental chews and they are available in a variety of flavors.  Greenies are another popular treat, but I've heard lately that some people are concerned about their digestability and safety.

I, personally, have noticed a positive change in Luke's teeth since I started giving him raw bones to chew on.  I get a big bag from the local butcher and he gets a few a week.  I haven't had to brush his teeth since I started to do this.

I use raw bones with my crew as well. It's really helped with Jules' teeth especially.  if the plaque is severe, or there is gume irritation, you may have to have the teeth professionally done first, and then work on prevention.

The Petzlife gel does work.  You have to be patient, though.  It does take time. It took about three weeks to see a definite difference.   I use it with a latex dog finger brush.  I wipe the gel on the surface of all my setter's teeth and brush the gel into the areas where she has a tendency to accumulate tarter with the brush.  I was using it about every other day at first and when the plaque on her back teeth was gone, I started using it twice a week.  After using it for a month, if you don't see an improvement, you might have to have her teeth cleaned by your vet and use this as a preventative.

My pointer is one of those lucky critters that don't seem to get nasty teeth.  Her teeth are clean and white.  I use the gel on her, though, as a precaution, a couple times a week.

I give both of them Greenies on the days that I don't brush.  I've seen the Zuke's dental chews and have been tempted to try them.   Do you think that they work as well?

I think a nice raw chicken wing twice a week would do wonders.  neither of my dogs have had kibble in over  a month and their teeth have never looked better, and I didn't think they could get better to begin with.

what are you feeding? it's the carbs in carb-heavy kibble that cause the tartar in the first place. She's a little dog, canned food would be afforadable; maybe switching to a quality canned food plus a raw chicken wing twice a week would solve the problem.

Like most, I used raw bones and my dog gets compliments on his teeth all the time.
