Horrible vet visit - need to vent!

    •  I asked her if he could be around a dog on Sunday.  She told me that she didn't have a crystal ball and really didn't know if he would not be contagious on Sunday, but that it would take 5-7 days for the infection to go away.

    I'm sorry, but what???  That was a really nasty remark to what I would consider a valid question.  At that point I think I would have walked out.  I've been having a really hard time finding a vet I am comfortable with.  Most either treat me like I'm a child (22, but I look really young) or they spend like 3.5 minutes with my dog and give a general diagnosis that usually ends up wrong so I have to come back again and pay for another office visit.  I am moving to a new town in two weeks, so I am really hoping to find a better one there.  I have pretty much lost all faith in veterinarians [:(]   Anyway, I would definitely tell your vet as well.  That lady should get on her broomstick and find a new profession.

    Personally, I think any one of those comments are out of line, and all of them combined would make me pretty peeved!  Speaking that way is just plain unprofessional, in ANY line of work in ANY context.  I'm glad it was a sub and not your real vet.

    The only weird thing my vet has ever said was some comment about "gray cat syndrome".  I asked her what that meant and she said she and the other vets had a bet going that the gray cats were always grumpiest and antisocial with the vet, so my cat would decide their bet.  It wasn't really rude though, more of a joke, and I laughed because Beckham IS grumpy and antisocial with the vet.  He lays his ears flat and makes whiney growling noises until she stops touching him.  When he had his bloodwork done and teeth cleaned, I went to pick him up and the tech told me I had to get him out of the cage myself because he was so angry and she was scared of him!  Well, he wasn't any happier to see me, but I'm not scared of him so I just scruffed him and yoinked him out.  I'd bet MY money on Gray Cat Syndrome. • Took his temp and began commenting on his tail.  "Who cut off your tail?  Why would anyone do that to you?"  I said that he is corgi and boston and that the corgis don't a tail and the boston's are short.  Again the holier than thou attitude, "Corgis are amputated, you know.  They do have a tail, but they are amputated."  Okay...

    Huh.  Someone forgot to tell my Corgi that.  Some are, most aren't.  I agree with everyone on this thread.  She sounds like she didn't know her butt from a hole in the ground and your vet needs to know.

    Sorry just thought I'd put my two cents in also;

    Well, nobody likes ALL dogs (I'm personally not a big fan of dogs who try to eat me), but she should have been a little nicer than that. Geez.

    First of all, that just made me lol, [:D] ..I love big and small dogs.. but I'm also not a fan of those ones who try and eat me.

    I also agree you should talk to your original vet. I had/have a similar ;problem. I took ;Pedro and TJ to the vet about 2 weeks ago and they were suppose to get a check-up, well, since both of them were trying to bite they didn't even get a check-up. The vet checked their ears because I said they were scratching and clipped their nails (and made them bleed on one of their nails!) ..I like the vet a lot because it's clean and it's a lot cheaper but they've got new people now and they aren't too nice ..so I know how you feel, they kind of try to make you feel stupid. I don't know what to do either because mine wasn't a substitute, it was the regular vet.. [:(] So I guess either deal with it and save a little money or pay a lot and maybe get treated better?
