ORIGINAL: polarexpress I never let Gizmo off leash because I don't trust his recall yet----but it turns out its better than I thought! We had a nor'easter early this week which brought hurricane force winds and massive amounts of rain. Tuesday morning we had a break in the bad weather and I put Gizmo in our fenced back yard---I checked the gate to be sure it was still latched shut. I poured a glass of milk, went to the kitchen sink and looked out the window---no Gizmo. I ran out the back door onto the deck--no Gizmo. Then I see a sliver of green grass behind the shed instead of the white of our fence. A whole panel of our fence is gone. I didn't notice before because the shed blocked my view. I shreik "Gizmo, here!" so loudly that I wake up my kids and run inside to get a coat---I was in my nightgown still. Then I hear it---Gizmo running up the deck stairs, he flies over to me and plants his wonderful spotty butt at my feet![sm=clapping%20hands%20smiley.gif] Good dog! I gave him I don't know how many treats and praised him like crazy. Then I had to go sit down because I was afraid I was going to be sick. Marynh has posted some photos of the storm taken in her neighborhood. We were okay---but these photos will tell you what it was like a couple of miles from my house. PS The top photo is firemen walking down a street that has been taken over by the ocean, the second is a road a couple of days after the storm and I think the third was high tide---these houses are NOT beachfront.
