    FURminator?

Just wondering does anyone use any of the FURminator products???Wondering if they are any good before I buy.

I have the big furminator that I use on my border collies and I love it.  I find that it only takes the coat that is ready to come out and if I do a few swipes without getting much I put it away.  It lets me strip out their undercoat before it blows and has made a huge difference in the amount of hair I find in my house.  You can't tell by looking at the dogs that I've used one, but looking at the carpets lets you know for sure!!!  Def. worth the $$!

I use the Furminator and love it.  I have a Great Pyrenees that sheds like mad.  It works really well on dogs with a thick undercoat.  My lab mix has no undercoat so for him, it's not very effective.  Works great on the cats too!

I use a furminator and shedding rake.  Love the furminator.  I use the medium size on Kayla and it really removes the loose hair.  It's well worth the cost.

If you're looking into one, check online.  Places like Amazon usually has them much cheaper than local stores.

I would try it out if you can, first, if your dogs are finnicky about being brushed. Pirate HATES it and won't tolerate it.

It works great on my dogs too.  And they love it.

I use the medium sized brush on the shepherds and it works great. I tried almost every other brush under the sun because I didn't want to spend the $45 for the brush and nothing compares. I don't use it on the schnauzer as her hair doesn't need it...but it is priceless for the breeds with a thick undercoat.

I use it on all three of mine, and love it.  I was really hesitant about buying one at first, since i couldnt see how a brush could work well enough to cost that much..but after several other people i show with kept raving about it, i decided to try one..well worth it.  Especially right now as Diesel is blowing coat- it makes a BIG difference!

I swear by mine!  I found a brand new large Furminator on eBay for only $30 plus shipping.

I never understood what the fuss was about until I got one of my own.  They truly are amazing and it has cut down on Luke's shedding like you wouldn't believe!

I use one too, the medium, for my Rottie and Amstaff, and Oh-What-A-Difference it makes!  (We will see if it helps this spring (now) with the schnoodle blowing her coat, in between groomings).  I will NOT be using it on the BP, however, as it might break his hairs, and he needs em ALL for showing, lol!!!!

I'm going to go against the grain and say that I hated it. I returned it in fact. It worked good on my cat but pretty much anything works on my cat. It required too much prep work on my husky. I bought an Oster rake instead. I have a bunch of things in my grooming box - oster rake, cheapo undercoat rake (works the best), shedding blade, mat breaker, a regular pin brush and a slicker brush. Oh and I also have a doggy dryer!  With 2 aussies, a husky and a cat I'm always switching tools depending on how their coat is at the time.

I love it for 3 out of 4 of my animals, Woobs and the cats=Fantastic.  Indie=not so much.  For his longer coat, it just chopped up his nice long ruff hairs no matter how I used it, so I quit.  I'll probably use it to thin out his belly in the summer but for him, I get great results with a wide toothed comb or a pin brush.  Woobie's by far the bigger shedder and I love the results on him.

I use the shampoo and conditioner on both dogs and love those results.  It seems to help the hair release better so once they are really dry, I can brush them out and get almost all of the fluff out in no time.  No matts, nice and soft and silky, and no itchy skin.  I've got to get them both in the tub again and get it back on their skin.  I tried the Pantene route, just to see if I'd have the same results as Lilie's mom, but no such luck.  They're scratching alot and that's NEVER happened before when using the Furminator products.  Pantene did make them super soft and super shiny, but it's not worth it if they're uncomfortable.  I think the Furminator conditioner takes a while to rinse out, but I find that even if I'm not super thorough rinsing ( or DD does it and I KNOW she's not) it still doesn't seem to dry them out or cause them to itch or scratch.

I guess I'm the minority.  I have three dogs, all wtih undercoat.  I find various rakes work much better and the dogs, who normally like brushing, don't seem to enjoy the Furminator much.  I wish it would have been as great for me as for others, but alas a flea comb would have been cheaper.(That's what it reminds me of)
