Do you ever wonder why?

People annoy me so bad, some of them jsut view dogs as toys to play with a few times then throwout.

She supposedly LOVES animals. But how can you when your willing to put your dog into a place that dont even give that certain breed a chance just because you dont have the time to give her?

I want to scream. I feel so bad because I would take her and try to find her a home but JJ would kill me if I brought a PB in. He doesnt have anything against them personally but he doesnt want PB, dobermans, rotties, etc around Samantha. And he likes those kind of dogs. 

i would have yelled at my friend.....

i put myself in a precarious position not long ago by taking on my cousins American Bulldog and her Chihuahua. that included me already have a bunch of rabbits, two American Bulldogs - one with a bad back - a cat, two small kids, and a grouchy husband lol

oh and some ducks!! 

it got pretty hairy around here a couple of times but it wasnt too bad for me. Bo was a good boy the whole time. it was the Chihuahua i wanted to scream at. every time i turned around she was pooping all over the place....  

the ONLY reason i did it was because the only other option was for both dogs to go to the pound. they wouldnt have been safe or cared for with the soon to be ex husband and the apartment she was moving to was small and she couldnt afford the deposit. i cared for the dogs - she paid for the food and came to visit them every other weekend - until she found a house with a fenced in yard. 

in your situation i wouldnt be kind to my "friend" at all..... if there is a deadline for the dog to be out then MAYBE i would understand but wouldnt feel sympathy for her. there is simply no excuse to have an untrained monster dog in an apartment. you either train it or choose a dog you can AT LEAST control..... or dont have a dog at all. 

Kle, I hear ya!  You read the post about my brother so you know how I feel about this.  Some people make you just want to shake some sense into them. 

Does she know that they'll kill her puppy if she takes it to the pound?  Is the dog going crazy b/c she doesn't exercise it?

Fingers crossed that a home is found.

I agree with all of the above. Can you make some calls and try to find a rescue organization that will take her and foster her?? Or at the very least find a no kill shelter to recommend??? There has to be a solution. I would really have to question my friendship with someone like this.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say why don't you take up the torch and try to help her out.  Give her suggestions on how to raise a puppy, even in an apartment.  Teach her about crates, kongs, puzzle toys, the importance of daily even multiple walks.  Maybe she'll come around if Trina isn't 'going crazy.'

She knows all about crates and stuff. I used to live with her so I know how she is with her animals. She is good with them is the reason why I cant figure out why she is doing this!! She knows that the pound will automatically put Trina down.

And yes I do believe the pup is going crazy because she isnt exercising her. The dog she has before was a calm dog. I think she got a dog too soon after the death of that dog. Tia(dog that died) has a very severe case of mange that wouldnt go away. Yes she took her to the vet. She did everything for that dog but in the end it got so bad she didnt want to be touched. So she had to do what was right for her.

Im hopeing I can change her mind. Im even going to offer to go to her house and take Trina out while she is at work. It's a 40 minute drive but it'll be worth it if I can keep her from being put to sleep. I dont have anything else to do. I'll take Jayde along to so she can help. 

I just hope she lets me have a chance and help. 

I may be one of the few here who feels differently, but I think her taking the dog to a shelter is a lot better than a lot of alternatives dogs face. Being left behind, being thrown out on to the street, being handed off to the first person who wants the dog (honestly, there are a lot of folks who would love to get their hands on PB's just for the image, that should be nowhere near dogs), etc. At least in a shelter the dog will be safe, cared for, and assessed. It's not ideal, and rescue would be better, but shelters are there for a reason, for people who simply shouldn't have dogs and need somewhere for the dogs to go. It's unfortunate that they always put down pit bulls, if that's the case that they do do that, but if we had to choose, I would opt for kind euthanasia over getting hit by a car, used in dog fighting, starving, or other such despicable actions.

On another note, not all no-kill shelters are created equal either, and there are a lot of reasons in which I do not like a lot of them. A dog living its life in a 6x6 (or smaller) cell is no "life" for a dog. Even if it gets one, maybe two walks per day, and one or two toys, and a pat here or there at meal times. In no kill shelters dogs can go what in the human world would be classified as clinically insane, where they start tail-chasing, flank suckign, staring at walls, chasing their own shadow, or simply become depressed and lonely. I think there are far worse things for a dog than kind euthanasia.

Now in saying that, I'm not saying there are no other options. You can try to help her rehome this dog, you can try to assist her in caring for the dog and teach her, you can try to help find people who may be interested, give her a list of organizations that take in dogs, maybe especially bullies......I just wanted to be clear that while a shelter is not the best solution, there is a reason we need shelters - because of people like this, who act as though dogs are expendable. And those dogs need somewhere to go, at least it's warm and has four walls and some meals and promise of water.

Well I dont agree that this pup should go to the shelter to just be killed within 5 minutes of arriving there. I will not let this pup die just because my so called friend doesnt have the time for her. 

I have been questioning myself on keeping Jayde. She needs alot of attention and I am trying to give it to her. But if it comes to me looking for her a better home I would never consider the pound. She is my responsibility, I brought her home, and I have to give her the life she deserves.

Same goes for Trina. She shouldnt die just because this friend of mine wont exercise her like she needs to be.
