    Dog walker/sitter in Kissimmee, FL

We'll be vacationing in florida for a week in April with my dog. We'll be staying at a rental home in the Indian ridge oaks community Kissimmee, FL. I would like to find a dog walker for the week to come in and feed & walk him. If any one resides in that area or know any websites could you please help me find someone?

    Thank you.

I would do it! But I'm a few hours away from Kissimme.... =/

There are a few members closer to that area that may know of something! I'll keep my eyes open!

PLEASE be careful -- that is near Disney and it's a prime area to be taken advantage of.  I can recommend a good kennel in Orlando but it's a ways from Kissimmee (like 45 minutes real travel time each way).  I  will *try* to get hold of a friend down there and see if she knows of anyone, but such a thing would be PRICEY at best.

What's your destination?  Disney has kennels on property -- not convenient but do-able.  All the BIG parks have them -- Cypress Gardens does NOT.  That whole area is far more populated than you may know and finding someone 'in the neighborhood' will be VERY difficult.

Lat time we were in FL we droped him at the Disney kennel and would pick him up when we leave the park. I have no problem going that. I just thought it would nice if he can have a good walk and stay in the house so he'll have more room to move about than in the kennel. He's a 90lb Lab.

Callie, what exactly did you mean by "prime area to be taken advantage of"?

    Thanks.

There's some crime problems down there right now that seem to target visitors.  A couple of people have been robbed near Downtown Disney and Universal ... and just today it was in the news that someone broke into a motel room (a nice Inn on 192) and stole several hundred dollars out of a room.

Any more it's not a good idea to rely on credit cards -- you hand your card to someone you don't know and they make more than an impression -- they walk away with your numbers and all you wanted to do was pay your bill.  Travellers checks work very well -- just make sure the numbers aren't 'with' the checks.

It's such a solid vacation area -- and unfortunately people make quite a business out of spotting vacationers and then following them "home" and then visiting when they know they aren't around.

The only one I *know* of down there is on Bass Road.  (and I think they ARE good people) -- it's right next to Give Kids the World (which is behind the Wal-mart that's on the corner of Bass Road and 192.)

I doubt they travel, but I'd think they might know of someone interested in doing what you need --  If you want to give them a call here's their listing (I'm not recommending them and this shouldn't be considered spam cos it's directly in response to someone's query)

Just a side note on Disney's kennels.  You have to come back and walk them throughout the day (3 times I think).  They cannot walk them at all, so it's up to you to get them out to potty.  And next year (I think) they are switching to a different kennel.  It will be more like regular boarding kennels.

I called Disney and they gave me some good news. They're switched to a different kennel, its run by Best Friends Pet Care now. Last time I was there they had kennels only in 2 of the parks and now they have kennels in all the parks. Kennels at Magic Kingdom, Epcot & Animal Kingdom charges $15 and that includes 2 walks and 2 feed times. Last time I paid extra for them to walk him. MGM Kennel doesn't offer this and we have to walk him ourself. And they assured the kennels are quite big and if I want I can choose to keep him in an out door kennel. And they assured me the out door kennels are in the shade whereas last time they told me out door kennels are not in the shade so I opt for an indoor.

This solves part of my problem, 2 days I'll keep him at Disney kennels and I have to find something else when we visit Sea World.

Oh ok....we used the one at MGM that's why we had to come back and walk.
