...but the dog issue around here is just getting ridiculous.
Every field at every school, every park, every trail, practically every bit of grass larger than half a football field seems to always have loose dogs.
Never mind that we have a town leash-law here. People just ignore it. Every bit of open grass is NOT a dog park, people!! Even though most to all of these dogs are perfectly nice, playful dogs....still.
This means that in order to walk my dog, I have to either A) walk her up and down the town streets with cars roaring by not eight or nine feet from us, people crowding everywhere, etc or B) take her to the small park near my apartment only after dark and VERY early in the morning
If I try to walk her in any open area, there seems to always be an off-leash dog, who will run up to us with owner trying to call it back and pulling the "oh, he is friendly!" routine (even though yes, they are friendly like I said before, but that doesn't matter).....cut to dog fight as Ginny flips out. It's not fair to her to have to deal with dogs constantly running up to her. She has made SUCH strides in her fear aggression over the years, and this is just keeping her from progressing - not to mention possible causing her to get hurt (since she never actually bites, but other dogs will bite her when they think she is attacking for real).
We should be able to walk where we please without interruption!!!
I am very close to calling the local police and telling them exactly where all these off-leash dogs are, so they can go do their job and enforce the leash law. But at the same time, I realize that people love letting their dog off, the dogs love it too...I don't want to be the bad guy. Sigh....what would you do in such a situation?
