Baby watercolor portrait

I remember an art instructor telling us that babies are exceptionally more difficult to draw (and I imagine paint) because they don't have the angles in their faces which help define the space and light.  How wonderful - yours looks great!!

And, btw, your siggie makes me want to cry, it is so special!!!!!

mirana, thanks so much. Yeah, babies are really tough. This one wasn't too bad, I think because its a close-up and didn't include her whole head. However, the picture of meri I'm working on, I have been toiling over the nose and mouth for a few days. I think I've got it, but I've changed it so many times I'm not sure now(lol). Thanks again!

I hope your little one is NOT a spitter. Its makes life easier when they're not(you won't have to do as much laundry...unless you're like me and have given up caring whether I smell like spitup...lol)

The Scout one - although now I see Meri sitting up and can't help but grin back at that little doll face!!  She looks so proud like she's having fun! lol

aww!  i love this! you some great WC skills! i envy your ability to do this so well!!
i'm self taught and pretty bad at it lol and i dont even bother painting people because i am so bad.. working on it though!!

As always, I think every bit of artwork you do is amazing. As for the one of Meri, if you wait just a few more days, she'll probably change/grow and you'll have to start all over, so hurry up and show it to us.

Aw thanks a bunch. I just love watercolor. This was my first real closeup of a baby, so i was real nervous. The mom got it the other day in the mail, so I can breathe easy now that's its safe and sound!

Thanks cathy! I'm definitely working from a photograph. I've tried to get meri to "stay" but she hasn't perfected that command yet like scout!
