What do you do with your dog when the weather is extreme?

the weather blows! kayla is a couch potato hog! any where I go she's right there sitting on my lap! like this morning when i put on my shoe... there is is block my way! lol i love my snuggle bug...

we put on one of kaylas 15 jackets (yes we're obsessed) and go for a quick walk. usually she's all like yay! yay! oh CRAP! and runs back inside lol she hates the cold. but she knows she'd rather be outside than in.

hot coco, a big blanket, and cuddling on the couch watching our favorite shows! (yes my dog watches tv)

Its pretty cold out today, and its snowing alot here! My dogs are going nuts because yesterday was freezing and we didnt go out so today we are going to the park near us and going on a hike...They really love being out in the snow.

only thing that keeps us in is extreme heat or really icy footing or lightening. We have good clothing for humans and dogs alike.

I'm with Jeano - not much stops us.

Sunday morning was getting near -40 (F) when we went to the dog park and did a little hike around.  I wore a LOT of clothes and Morrison wore his sweater, Monroe has a very nice coat permanently attached.  We do this every morning that they don't go to day care (about 1/week) so we are all getting our exercise.

I really let the dogs decide - when they head for the gate of the park or the door of the house, we go in.  Then it's warm-up cuddle time.

As much as he loves his walks, Max is pretty content to be a couch potato when the weather is extremely hot or cold.  In cold weather he curls  up in a pile of warm blankies and when it's extremely hot he hops up on the bed under the ceiling fan.

We don't get very much of what could be called "extreme" weather here.  I have been known to wait and see if the rain eases off, but if it hasn't after an hour or so then off we go anyway.  In the summer, if it is truly hot, then I will walk Ben early in the morning and late in the evening, about an hour before sunset, just because he doesn't seem to enjoy walks as much when it's very warm.

Other than that, there isn't much that English weather can throw at us that we can't both handle.

Well in South Florida the extremes are basically boiling hot and torrential lighting/thunder storms.  The heat results in walks and outdoor time being mainly in the early morning or late afternoon through evening period.  As for the rainstorms, Kirby hates getting wet so he is usually more than happy to skip outdoor time to avoid it.  I will usually wait to see if the weather clears, but if it looks bad we skip it.  There is far too much lightening and enough people getting struck each year down here to risk walking out in bad weather (we are the lightening capital of the United States after all).

On days we don't go out, we stick to some good indoor fetching and toy playing games with a good training session or two thrown in.  One of the nice things about having a little dog is they can exercise that way pretty good in a house.  Although Kirby has plenty of energy to spare, he is good about not going psycho if he misses a day or two of outside exercise.

Well I have 5 dogs and only 1 drives me nuts on bad days. The other 4 are nice and stay calm for me on bad days. But Lillie goes nuts. She has to have exercise!! And it's hard to do when I have a 2 year old that cant go out when it's pouring down rain. So I got a 100 foot trolley line and Lillie goes on it. I wish I could let her out unsupervised and not have to be tied but I cant. This summer though we will be fencing in the yard!!!!

I have a dog house for Lillie to get into when she wants to go out in the rain but she never does. I will catch her sleeping in the rain. But I make her come inside when I catch her doing that. Silly dog!

Now if it werent for my daughter I would be out exercising the dogs no matter the weather.

I play with her inside!  I'll throw her stuffy around, but I usually get yelled at by DH because I come too close to knocking things over.  lol  I rough house with her, she loves that!  I again, get yelled at, because of the noise he hears overhead (he works downstairs in the gameroom and we're upstairs, right above him).  But, what are you gonna do, poor thing just wants something to do, so I apease her and we do whatever she wants.  LOL  Besides, what's DH gonna do, ground me!  LOL
