Online Buddies List?

If you go to your inbox, there is a red header for ONLINE BUDDIES. I have one person on it, but I have NO idea how she got there. She is one of my buddies, but still....

If you search members you can add them to your address book, also on the inbox, but I can't figure out how the heck you add to the Online Buddies list.

I have posted this in the Technical questions area, but I'm a computer person who lives in nanoseconds. I want to know NOW! [8D]

Anyone know?

You don't add them to my knowledge...Online Buddies is automatic...meaning that when a person in your address book is "logged in active"...they will show up.
If someone were not using the setting "show others when I am online' then they'd not ever show up in your list...even if they are here. [

Huskymom figured it out for me.

See, you go to the Member List (top of the page) and find who you want to add to your buddy list. Then you check the box next to their name and click the button below that says "ADD TO CONTACT LIST." This puts them on your address list.

It also puts them on your Online Buddies list, but you won't SEE them UNTIL they are logged into the forum.

I thought it didn't work because the person I test-added wasn't online, so she didn't show up.

Very confusing and surely not intuitive at all. But there it is, that's how it works.

Jeano... not 100% sure I understand what you are asking but if you are asking HOW to add someone to your online buddy list then what you do is either go to their profile OR just in their post at the bottom left side you will see something that says "Addr" with a pencil icon.. just click that and it will automaically add that person to your "buddy" list and will show you when they are online (unless the "hide" from online users)

I think it just puts them there once you add them to your "contact list.

Maybe there's only one in that list right now because only one of your Contacts/Buddies is on line right now?

I added a few of you just now using the "addr" pencil at the bottom of the post and all who are online now showed up in my address book. Now my questions is, what is the address book? Do we just use it to see if our friends are online? I see you can click to go to their profiles but I don't understand what the purpose of it is?

Address book function I use most is sending out PM's to more than one person at once....I can send to up to 5...and when I need to do so the address list makes it easier.

Its also nice to have the names handy when you want to PM someone in general as opposed to having to find a post they made, or their name in the listings...
