    bruise, or worse?

So Saturday morning I noticed my girl had some red blotches on her belly.  She's always laying on her back begging for a belly rub, so it was easy to spot.  There is one BIG spot that's under some fur and the other is by the middle of her lower belly and it's smaller. It's also where she doesn't have any hair, so it's very bright.  It's a pink/red/purple color and it literally appeared from night to day! I'm certain it was not there on Friday.

My question, do dogs bruise like humans?  I called the vet and the receptionist told me to watch it and that in fact they bruise and it should go away.  She was playing with her buddy (boyfriend) on Friday night and they play chase and in the middle, she likes to roll over to let him get a nice sniff [:)]

Could this be something more serious? I wish I had a digital camera to post a pic, but I don't.

;pris, dogs do get bruises. A few years ago Jessie was attacked by a dog that was running lose while we were visiting a nature preserve in the country. Jessie is a GSD-Lab mix , so although the other dog , who was larger, tried several times to bite her,  his mouth wasn't big enough to allow him to break her skin. She did have several bruises from the attack where he tried to bite.  They were sore to the touch for several days. I wouldn't suggest you feel her spots to see if they're sore to determine if they're bruises, just keep an eye on them like the vet said.
