Today I took my alaskan husky pups out for their first experience with a harness on a sled for a short jaunt around the field... so much fun!

looks like they did a great job! How do they not get tangled up? My two tangle their leashes lol.

I brought them out with very experienced adult dogs who showed them the ropes... though as you can see the adults got in on the fun as well and there were a few tangles :). It's to be expected though!

Looks like you are doing a very good job with your huskies.  Have you been to Tamworth sled dog race, coming up in a couple weeks?

Wow!  That looks great!  I really need a sled.  I hope they all turn out perfect.

Huskymom, I hope they turn out perfect too ...grin... I need a sled too... I use all borrowed equipment.

Dogslife... nope never been to the Tamworth race... would love to. I was supposed to do Craftsbury VT this weekend and it was cancelled.I've been trying to find a fun one to do this winter that doesn't conflict with our touring business busy weeks (I'd race with borrowed dogs since mine are a bit small :)) Where are you from? I see you have siberians... do you dogsled?

We haven't used our dogs for sledding. But we love to be the spectators!  The Tamworth race is one of the oldest ongoing races in New England.  It is actually on Lake Chocura (not sure of the spelling of that). It is about probably less than an hour from Meredith?  For the most part I think the people take good care of their dogs, particularly the Siberians/huskies are well cared for.  A lot of people there on that day and it is a long day. They sell hamburgs hotdogs and coffee.  Plenty of parking, plenty of people, dogs, sleds, howling and great photo opps.  (we are from Ma)

Very cool! Looks like they did well. Even if they do have quite a bit of puppy left in them. Smile
