Rescuing a new pit bull today

We got word that some people a couple of towns over were trying to find a home for their 12 month old pit bull. They didn't care where he went and the only person that had called with interest was a man who is suspected of fighting dogs and keeps his dogs (other pits) chained outside. A woman who works with the humane society in their town decided to try to help find him a home and we got in touch with her when we found out he only has until Friday to find a home other than the man who has already contacted them. My husband and I talked and agreed that we could give him a good home so we called and he is ours. We are going to pick him up later and I will have to post pics of him when we get him. His name is Mannie. I am so excited.

The suspected fighting man is being watched by the police and that is how the rescue that is helping them with Mannie found out that he was bad news. When they ran his name for a background check they found he had been arrested before for possible dog fighting and when they contacted the local police they were told that while they didn't have enough evidence to make a conviction the last time they were watching him and checking his dogs to get more evidence against him this time.
