    I think my dogs enjoy....

Seeing me stress over food. Here's why.

As most of you know I have changed Lillie's food a billion times and still no result on putting weight on her. She is medically fine.

Now I have Jayde. Who's has recently gotten a nickname. Miss Piggy!! She is a pig. She will eat, eat, eat. She doesnt ever seem to get full.

Here's how I feed Lillie and Jayde.

Lillie and Jayde get feed 2 times a day. Lillie gets 4 cups of wellness core,2 raw eggs, and 1/2 can of wellness wet food. Jayde gets 2 cups of wellness puppy food. Once a week Lillie gets a huge chunk of frozen deer( thank you neighbors!) and Jayde gets frozen chunks of a cow( neighbors also chip this in).

Now all my dogs have all their shots and wormings.

Is it normal for a 6 month old aussie to want to eat all the time? Maybe I'm not giving her something she needs? Jayde weighs 25 pounds.

IME, 6 month old dogs definitely do enjoy eating.  At that point Crusher was eating an obscene amount of food.  16 cups of Iams.  Had I known then what I know now, I would have had him eating a much better food, but I'm sure he still would have been eating a good 6-8 cups of something else.  Mind you Crusher is now full grown in between 74-82 pounds possibly a bit more.

My little one, Onyx is a high energy dog and eats just as much as her bigger brother.  But weighing in at 45 pounds, you wouldn't expect it.  She just never stops moving.  Plus she doesn't have the coat that Crusher has so she needs a bit more to keep warm.  And when she was 6 months she would have just laid on a big ol pile of kibble and eaten all day if I had let her.

My dogs have very different eating personalities.  Otto won't eat unless he's hungary.  Oliver will eat nonstop until he explodes.  Otto i lean, skinny I think and Oliver is a little chubby.  I have to carefully regulate what that little pig dog eats.  It would be really rare for an animal to starve themselves if they are not sick.  If you already had him checked out by the vet and it sounds like you have.   Just let them have different eating personalities.  The hormone cascade and drive for eating won't let him die of starvation ;)

Wow!  I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one w/ a furry pig.  Misty's a little over 6mos. now and she eats her food, tries to eat Tabitha's and usually succeeds no matter how much you try to keep her from it, somehow she manages to woof it up.  She even eats the cat's food.  I feed her 3 times a day...not sure what the feeding habits should actually be...but she gets about 1cup every feeding.  From what I'm reading, maybe I should be feeding her more.  Anyone who has advice on how much I feed Misty, please let me know.  Sometimes she won't eat at the times I give her food, so, I imagine she's ok, but any advice, is more than welcomed.

Oliver sounds like our chihuahua Kujo when it comes to eating. She will eat till she cant eat anymore. She doesnt do that with her kibble though. She eats a little here and there but if I give my daughter something to eat and forget to crate her I will catch her conning Samantha into feeding her. She's so little she can hide under Samantha's little table without being seen.

I know when I got Jayde she would nibble at her food. That lasted a good month before she was comfortable living with us. She was 10 weeks old when we got her. Now she's a pig!! I was just worried she wasnt getting enough food or something since that is all she seems to think about. But she is a nice solid 25 lbs. Not a bone shows on her

Lillie on the other hand is Miss Boney Butt. I finally have her ribs covered but her hip bones are still really visible. But according to the vet she is in good health. I'm hopeing since she is done growing she will fill out now.

And last but not least Cheyanne. My easy keeper. She really is. She's the first dog I've owned and the best.
