Poop-sicles.

    Poop-sicles.

It's that time of year again.

It's poop-sicle season. For some reason, though neither of my dogs are poop eaters during the rest of the year, they just can't seem to resist those crunchy frozen nuggets in the winter.

What is it about the frozen poop?!?  Conrad is so poop-phobic the rest of the year that he insists on standing all the way at the end of his leash when I pick up his poop on walks. After he deposits it, he wants nothing more to do with it. I've never been able to train him to poop in one place only because once a place smells like a lot of poop, he won't go near it. But once Marlowe arrived on the scene and winter came 'round and Marlowe demonstrated the tasty nature of the poop-sicles, neither dog has looked back.

What is up with this? Am I the only one dealing with this seasonal delight?

Suddenly I'm very grateful to live in Texas.  We rarely have to worry about frozen poop because it doesn't stay below freezing for long.

yes... poosicle season has come again.  And this year, we have cats and a nice open area under my porch that the cats like to think of as 'The Litterbox' .  And those freaken cats poop HUGE!  What the heck is that all about?  Twice Onyx has tried to bring in a big ol poosicle to snack on, on her way inside from the kennel.

Okay Candace you just gave me a little shred of something to be thankful for: they don't try to bring them inside to save for later!

Yep, we have a poop sicle eater too, except it's not his own!  He wants nothing to do with his but will zone in on a frozen piece of poop three blocks away.  Any other time of the year, he walks past without noticing or caring.

Well, she'd be happy to lay outside and gnaw on it, but she only gets access to under the porch on our way inside.  And she knows if she takes too long, the next time she gets leashed.  And then there would be NO poosicles for her.

I just have to giggle how easily we dog people talk about poop issues, and the consumption of such things. HEE HEE Heck my dogs dog find it seasonal they eat it year round. I have tried, oh how I have tried to stop it. They poop faster than we can clean up after them. Nice breath huh.

Both of mine will dig them out.  For Kenya, I think it's the thrill of the track and digging, but Coke will eat them.  Luckily, poopcicles are easier to scoop so I try to get them right away or go out once a day to find them before they do.  They are hard to spot when you have a HUGE yard covered in leaves and long grass.  Sometimes I let Kenya out and have her sniff them out for me.

Lola, the pup we had would throw her frozen poop at the glass door in front of our table while we were eating dinner and she was outside.

Molly doesn't do poopsicles Yes but Sadie enjoyed a little game of poopsicle hockey but she didn't munch on them

My mom owns horses, and Sniper's favorite treat in the world lately are frozen horse poop-sicles! She doesn't care about her own, or other dogs, but if it came out of the horse, she is one happy pup! I visit with my parents once or twice every few weeks, and Sniper knows exactly where we are headed, her favorite snack bar. Blah! Ick!

I used to live on a horse farm and the owner's GSD LOVED horse poop. But oh dear the gas.............Ick!

Too warm for poopsicles here but Bugs loves cat, rabbit, deer, goose............. you get the picture poop year round.

Never even considered eating dog poop and all but the rabbit poop is a rare delicacy.  That he goes out in the morning to find and consume.  Looks like a goat Stick out tongue

I have horses, I board them. When I take my dogs to the barn they are always looking for yummies (poop or HORSE HOOF YUM) Whenever I see them eating poop I discourage it by saying "no don't eat yucky stuff" They always stop because they are good dogs, but they look at me with this "really it's not yucky mom" look on their faces. I discourage the horse hoof too as they always throw it up the next day on the living room carpet.

She was probably just trying to give you all dessert!  LOL
