    Dance pictures - 8 months

I haven't been around very much lately simply because I can't get used to the new board set-up and it runs very slowly for me, but I had a couple of requests to see some updated pictures of Dance, so here I am! These were all taken yesterday evening. The colour is a little bright/off in some, as it's difficult to take pictures of a totally orange dog in freezing temperatures at sunset, but I hope you like them! As the title says, she's 8 months old now, is 17 1/4" tall, and is 26lbs. We had our first conformation show last weekend too. We did well, but didn't place as Dance wasn't as perky or as confident as the judges wanted. Ah well, perhaps we'll get something next time! I just entered us for the experience anyway.

She is cute!  What kind of dog is she?  She's got the prettiest color!  Heck for a pup, I'm sure she did great at dance...plus she probably had stage fright.  LOL  She'll only get better!  She is just soooo pretty!  Oh, and the Christmas pic, is really nice!

    Thanks everyone!

Janet, she's a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever (or Toller, for short). Lol, and she didn't have a dance show. Her name is Dance, and we were at a conformation show. For her first time she did well, but she doesn't enjoy strangers touching her without getting to know them first so she did't appreciate the judge going over her. I'm sure with age and more work she'll get better. :)

She's gorgeous, I love those pictures. She looks like she's really having fun, too :)

Oh, Dance is growing ino such a gorgeous girl!  I love the light on some of the later ones.  I LOVE afternoon light & I think it makes her pop!  Give her a big ol' smooch from me.

DUH, sorry, I know they actually have doggy dancing...I've seen videos.  My fault, Sorry Dance!  Thanks for letting me know what breed.  I don't think I've ever heard of it, and she is just a beautiful dog.  Kind of reminds me of a BC in the face.  Ok, sorry, one more question, if you don't answer I won't be offended, I can always look it up on the web, but how big does she get?  Maybe for my next dog....(oops, now I'm getting the BC stare!)

No worries, I've had a few people make the same mistake regarding her name! Tollers aren't very popular, so it isn't surprising you've never heard of them. The females are supposed to be between about 37-43lbs, the average being around 35 and I've never met one over 38lbs. Males are between 45-52lbs. Females can be between 17-19" tall, and males 18-20". They're sort of similar to Border Collies. People often think of them as Border Collie/Golden mixes. They aren't quite as high energy as a BC and tend to have a more reliable on/off switch as they aren't usually as obsessive about things. As far as intelligence and trainability goes, they're usually right up there with BCs as well. I think Tollers and Border Collies go great together! I know lots of people who have had both, actually. I used to have a Toller/BC mix and she was an incredible girl - best dog I've ever had. If I don't end up keeping a pup from Dance's litter in a couple years (if she passes her health tests and gains a couple titles), I'd love to get a purebred Border Collie.

Thanks for the info.  They definitely get to be a good size.  By the way, I love the pic of her running w/ her tail out (toward the end), she almost looks like a horse, running in the snow!  She is just beautiful, can't say that enough.  I think I'd have to keep one of her pups, though, since they're not that common, and not as high strung as a BC, she sounds like a perfect dog!  Good Luck, with the health tests and titles.  Thanks again for the info!  Very interesting!
