    Boomerang Tags

Not sure if this has been posted before, but I know we often discuss tags and the noise they make, them catching on things etc....anyway, a friend just sent this link to me and I thought I'd pass it on.

Those would be great if my dogs didn't have 4-6 tags each. I use tag bags on my crew. I used to use good ol' rubber bands but was sick of having to keep replacing them.

I remember seeing those tags (flush to the collar), oh, probably a few yrs ago.  I forgot all about them, they are a good idea.  Frankly, I like the jingle Misty makes, especially now, since she's still a pup (6 mos.), 'cause I always know where she's at, or where she shouldn't be.  lol  It would be nice to have those, especially for the summer, when we boat, though, that way we wouldn't have to worry about it getting hung up on her life jacket, or on the swim platform or anything else for that matter on the boat.  Thanks for posting.  I'll have to save it in my favs and tell hubby.   Christmas Lights

I have had those for about 4 years now, and they are just as good as new!  I highly recommend them...

Even though my dogs wear several tags (CGC/Therapy Dog, license, rabies), I still like those.  After all, if the other tags catch on something and are lost, your pet still has ID.  I like to tell people that if their dog has the other tags, they can still engrave "If I am alone, I'm lost - check for microchip" on the boomerang.

I think I'm going to order some.  I'm going to put my vets number on them though.  My dogs have gone through 3 tags each cause I've changed numbers and moved so much.  Clayton will know how to get ahold of me.  It was fine when I worked doing engraving myself, but I'm not doing that anymore...paying someone else to do it is much more costly.lol

I order my personalized tags from Boomerang, but haven't tried a collar tag.  Kenya's collar is less than 1/2" thick so I'm not sure it would work.  Her tags ARE annoying (she has a microchip tag, county license, and personalized tag and will soon be adding a rabies tag (didn't get one with her last shot), CGC tag, and therapy tag).  I keep them all on a miniature karabiner that I can take off when they get annoying.  Our dogs are required to wear their license, so a collar plate wouldn't solve the problem.

But in the event that she lost her tags, she could still get home.  My dogs are required to wear their rabies and license tags as well, but they play so rough that they have on occasion yanked them off of each other.  Luckily I've always been around and been able to find them, but what if one of my dogs got lost and somehow snagged his/her tags on something.

I guess the microchip will have to suffice.  Her tags have never come off (they are a PITA for me to take off).  I do let them play with tags and collars on, but I watch carefully so they don't get locked in the teeth.  I'm more paranoid about someone getting away without tags on than their teeth getting caught (they are always supervised).  I'd like a collar plate but I don't see how that would work on a collar that isn't "flat".

I think the site said it had special ones for rolled collars....I only looked briefly this AM so I could be wrong.

You're right, but it still won't work :(

This tag will also work on Rolled Leather and Aspen Comfort Collars, but you will not be able to use the first 2 holes for the shortest length setting. On rolled leather collars, (the tag needs to use this space and will cover those two holes).

Since Kenya is thin, she wears a collar much smaller than the one appropriate for her breed (despite what pet suppliers thing, GSDs and rottweiliers don't have the same necks!!), and even then I had to drill another hole, and I can STILL slip the collar off over her head.

    • Gold Top Dog

No that wouldn't work then.  I wonder why pet suppliers thing that....out of the rotties and GSDs I've known the rotties always have bigger necks....

    Sorry OT

Those do seem like a good idea, Co-Co's ID tag is wearing down and starting to fade....

Oh for sure, the 'wear' factor is reason enough.  The tags I have for my dogs are stainless steel and I had to engrave them with huge force at about 20 passes.  That would go right on through most metals, but these things still get worn down to where they are hard to read, within a year of rubbing with rabies tags and licenses.

I'm a big fan of Boomeran Tags. They're plastic tags are especially durable and don't fade or smear over time, unlike other plastic tags I've had in the past. If my looney toons (including the cats) can't destroy them, then that should speak for their durability lol.

Bets ever ! I have the slide on for 2-ply buckle collars and the ones for the nylon clip collars

We've had ours for about 1.5 years and it is still in great shape
