I'm sure this made it's rounds already, but I'd heard the rumors, but just found a website with all the info.  Not only is it bad food, think of these poor animals!

Jaime, if I cannot post this, I understand I'll remove it, or you can feel free, thanks [;)]

WARNING!  DO NOT WATCH THE VIDEO if you can't handle seeing some horrible and desperately sad things.

I had to turn it off, and I'm now crying.

Even if they stopped the cruelty to animals and changed their recipe, I will *NEVER* buy another iams product, nor will I purchase anything at a store that sells it.  Period.

The website is owned by PETA. Try this one instead:

Not that I dislike their food any less, but it's always best to check out more than one source, and PETA tends to blow things out of proportion... >O.o<

I've watched the "iams cruelty" video before and its disgusting. I too will never EVER buy anything from Iams. Don't forget, Iams makes the Eukanueba (sp?) brand as well.

Although Peta "may" have blown the Iams cruelty case outa proportion...I firmly believe there is a hint of truth in everything. You don't see Peta targeting other dog food companies in the same way.... Iams sucks.

I clicked on the site read a bit then clicked it off that was enough to make me [:@]

Iams is now owned by Proctor & Gamble. P&G HAS ALWAYS done animal testing. Shampoos, cleaning products, etc.
I won't watch the video as I don't need visuals to have an idea of what goes on...but I'm not surprised.

This video is a complete fabrication.  I live directly across the street from from iams/euk R&D building.  I have been in it many times, and have worked with a number of there dogs.  90% of my neighbors work for P&G and they are all wonderful pet owners.  With well trained, healthy dogs.

Absolutely none of them would stand for this kind of treatment.

The iams/euk facility is open to anyone who would like to tour it.  All areas are visible at least via window.

P&G would never stand for this kind of treatment of animals, and I am certain (seen with my own two eyes) that this kind of behavior is NOT going on.

You can not believe everything you see on the internet.  There are government agencies that regulate the treatment of lab animals very closely (especially dogs) and P&G was rated one of the top companies in the country for it's overall treatment of animals.

Please verify your facts before making such damning statements.

I tend to believe the ASPCA website rather than the PETA one.  Proctor and Gamble was one of the worst offenders though in animal testing and cruelty, though, weren't they.
    • Gold Top Dog
They ;practiced Animal Testing during a time when it was common place by most main stream manufacturers.  This is not a justification, but it was a fact of the time.  The general populations perspective has evolved since then as has P&G's practices.

P&G should be commended for the steps they have made in improving animal welfare.

Take a look at this link from the ASPCA site.  Feel free to review the stats from the random site checks.

I posted that link up there, but hey, just in case people STILL overlook it right? lmfao...

Thank you Astara for the link - i'm glad to hear that they've made the appropriate steps to remedy their mistakes.  It's nice to hear that they are changing to external studies.  I'm sure I'm not alone in feeling that the mistreatment of animals is something I'm passionately against.

Mic, I'm intersted in hearing why you believe this video is a complete fabrication?  Are you saying that it's fabricated in the respect that it's not at the Iams labratory (or whatever the place is) that they are filming?  Or are you saying the animals are imaginary?   I would love to know that video was a figment of my imagination, as I was truly sick to my stomach and couldn't stop thinking about it all night.  But, I'm pretty sure what I saw on there was real.

I still don't plan on feeding Iams, nor their "treats", etc.  I'm a Solid Gold (whom I've contacted regarding their testing, let me know if you want to see the email) and Eagle Pack person myself.  I'm also with Mary - I only use natural shampoo's and conditioners.  If nothing else this whole experience has taught me to be even more proactive in researching what products I buy.  I had no idea that there was ever a problem with Iams or PG.  Granted it was naive of me, it's true, innocence is bliss.

The animals were certainly not a figment of your imagination (barely worth a response).  What I am saying is that this video was a setup, and what was not taking place at a P&G owned facility or one that they contracted.  I know the investigator personally.

"barely worth a response" - thanks Mic for taking the time to respond [8|]

What I guess I was trying to ask is - where did this take place then?

As far as I know the exact origin of the tape was not determined, however, the creator of the tape was prosecuted for defamation.
