    Well, that's a little spooky....

Sally learned to open most of the doors in our house within a few days of moving in.  It was annoying but we didn't think much of it as they were the handle door knobs that the dog just has to pull down on and apply their weight correctly to open.

However, she has recently started to open our side door when she wants in--the side door has a ROUND door knob that you actually have to grip and turn.  Now we are going to have to watch and make sure that this is the only round door knob in the house she can operate (and make sure the door is locked when she goes out so that she's not rewarded for her efforts), otherwise she is going to start letting herself into the basement again to raid the litter box....

She probably worked a bit at it since she knew it was possible for her to open the others.  That is, unless something else is opening doors for her... Indifferent

Silly Sally! You might have to "child-proof" your door knobs. Smile

Here I've been thinking that dogs couldn't really outsmart us until they develop opposable thumbs.  Looks like they don't really need 'em after all. Big Smile

They just get smarter and smarter. Salem can do most doors. He can even open the deadbolt from the inside but not the handle lock. We have to make sure both are locked. Indifferent

He can also open the fridge, and his crate. He wont eat the food out of the fridge. He just opens it and stands in front of the cool air. If we drank canned beer I'd teach him to get me one, but I don't want to with bottles.

He just opens it and stands in front of the cool air.

Are  you sure Salem isn't somehow related to my boys?  Even as adults they still do this when they're here and I have to tell them "nothing in there has changed in the 10 minutes since you looked before." Smile

Just put hook and eyes up a the tops of the doors.  If she can get THOSE open, she'll be driving next! ROFLLLL
