Ok, did the crap clean thing on the regist. and cleaned up some of my start up garbage (not all but some). I rebooted and got some error on reboot saying that I made changes to my start up blah blah blah. I just canceled the msg. The lag has gone away as has the 100% spikes in CPU usage. However, I still think that it's related to some sort of trojan/spyware/virus. I just have a feeling. I'm going to reset the security on my modem and see if that solves the problem.
I probably do need to do a full windows reinstall. Haven't done that...well since I built this computer I think. But I'm just not interested in doing that atm. Maybe over the holiday when I have a day or 2 off to waste looking for CDs and software junk.
P.S. to give you an idea of the lag, when I would type something here then backspace to fix a spelling error or something, after I stopped hitting backspace, it would keep going. That kind of lag.
Ok I spoke too soon...it's starting to come back as I type. Gotta be some type of trojan
