    I Hate Being Right *sad*

A neighbor of mine had a Pibble, his name was Cujo.  Yes, they are idiots.  Cujo would get out of the house on a regular basis & run around the neighborhood.  He was not the most stable dog I've met.  He was DA & would come to my fence & try to get to Grady.  Now, Grady is not one to back down from a scuffle.  We fenced in the yard so Grady COULD run & just hang outside.  I was a little scared for Grady in his own yard. Okay, I'm getting sidetracked here.  Anyway, I returned Cujo home so many times I've lost count.  EVERYtime I returned him I talked to his owners mom about him running loose.  I was never scared of him but a lot of my neighbors were & threatened to hurt him if he came in their yards.  I stuck up for him to the best of my ability.  I told the owner's mom (his owner is her kid & I wouldn't want to be one of his dogs) my concerns about him getting hurt & what people were saying in the neighborhood.  Cujo was NOT safe mostly because of his breed *sad*.  Well last night he got out yet again.  He was hit by a car & killed.  I'm so sad for him.  He was a nice dog to humans.  He didn't deserve to die that way.

Poor thing. He didn't deserve to have owners like that :(

And the owners won't ever do a thing different because "dogs get killed all the time" and somehow they think they're doing something awesome for the dog to "let it be FREE".  They somehow think the dog is stupid if it  is "too dumb to stay out of the road".

But these people never think of how a dog thinks -- and that the dog doesn't have the same 3rd grade education they probably have and that the lure of whatever is across that road is great and a dog is no judge of how fast a car is going.  *sigh*  these people don't 'think' full stop --

That's terrible.  Sorry that you had to deal with this, Annie.

I feel so badly for Cujo cuz I'm sure he was not treated like we would treat any of our dogs.  I'm pretty sure he was locked up in the basement when he wasn't tied outside on a broken tie-out.  He really was a sweet boy.  His owner was a meathead who thought it was cool & macho to have a bullie.  I mean he was fed, watered & sheltered but I think that was about it.  I tried to get across to them that bullies have a bad rap & not everyone loves them.  That being the case they really need to keep an eagle eye on him to keep him safe.

Actually, Callie, the mom wants to find who hit him so she can try & get some $$ from them for vet costs.  ~shaking my head~

~sigh~  Run free, Cujo.  Be nice to Lucy when you see her.  She'll show you all the cool places.

God, how tragic. I'm sorry you have to go through this, you did all you could and they still didn't listen. People are so dense sometimes.
