The few GDs I have seen always bring to mind the description "Gentle Giants."

those of us who want our Danes to do more than look pretty and live longer than age six prefer them at the low end of the allowed size range or even slightly under breed standard size.

Giants??  Yes, for those that don't see one every day they could appear to be giants.  For those of us that live with one, we get use to their size and don't see them as all that tall and big, at least for me.  So I guess that whether they are above or below breed standard doesn't really matter to me.

I have talked to some Dane owners around my area, and quite a few of them live in apartments. Unlike their size they really dont require a big living space.. or so I've been told. Just some advice if you REALLY want that dog! Wink

That Dane reminds me of Alice, a beautiful black bitch. I love her partly because she's the only dog in Petsmart that has made Misha look small, and partly because she's really shy and cute. Though... considering her owner is somewhere between 6' 7"-6' 10", she looks... just a little big. At nine months old she came up to the middle of his thigh, which was above 32" because her nose was in the middle of my stomach.

I love the handler playing with the Danes face.
