Hello

    Hello

I am new. I have two dogs. Kale who is an 8 year old maybe pit mix rescue dog, Maven is a 3 month old pit pup, also a rescue dog.

We are adapting to the new pup with some bumps in the road, as Kale has been the king of the castle for some time! We MIGHT have things lined out for the moment.

Kale has allergies. They were mis diagnosed for years as a food allergy and now turns out he has Atopy. Dust and pollen. That of course creates a bit of a challenge for me in the house and the yard, but we're getting there. I think I need a cleaning lady...LOL the almost obsessive dusting and cleaning of the hardwood is dull....

Anyway, that's a bit about us.

Hello and welcome to the forum. We have a dal with allergies, very frustrating, isn't it?

Thanks all for your warm welcome!

Yes allergies are SO tough! a fussy eater doesn't make them any easier while we thought it was a food allergy (which it's not). Hard to keep weight on, hard to find a food he'd eat... you know the drilll.... The dust thing makes me nuts too as does pollen and I hate prednisone. benadryll doesn't really work and hydroxazine makes him dopey....

There are a couple of photos in my "Photo" area... I just suck at the computer thing...

Ok... that is almost creepy.  My 8 year old SON is named Kale.  He is adjusting to a new baby sister as he has been the king of the castle for the first 7 years.  He has allergies too, and I am sooooooooooo sick of dusting the hardwood...LOL

We've talked a bit in Nutrition, but thought I'd say welcome to the forum.

The pictures are here somewhere, I swear!!!!!

As for the allergies... I've done all of the wrong things for years! Of course that was due to the mis diagnosis.

I have tried every hypo allergetic food ever marketed, I'd have to look at his med file, but i have tried every medication, shot ever used both before and after the proper diagnosis. His skin looks good. He itches. It escalated when the fires in S Cal were at their worst, and did resort to small doses of prednisone. He was getting raw.

His feet are good, he has had nasty ear issues. Ear hematoma (sp?) had surgery. middle ear infections that resulted in facial paralysis and vertigo. This time last year I was going to put him down. Most of the ear issues took place while my husband had him with him. Since coming home he's great.

The list of mistakes and suffering goes on and on....
