    dog-sitting issues

I am leaving on vacation in two days and was going to have a friend stay at my house with my dog.  I was really excited about having someone I know and trust in my house with Abbi because it would be the least stressful on everyone.
Anyway, yesterday she tells me that she will not be able to watch my dog the entire time that we are gone.  Now I have until Thursday to figure something out.  At first I was really mad at her, but she is doing me a favor and even if I have to use a kennel for a few days she is helping me save a lot of money.
My first thought was to ask my parents for help, but they have to think about it, which I find frustrating because I used to watch their dog all the time when they would travel and I still watch their cat from time to time.  I can understand not giving me an answer right away but I am leaving Thursday night and don't have a lot of time so I need to assume their answer is "no" and keep looking.
The only other thing I can think of is to ask my boss.  I know she loves Abbi and would do a great job, she had a dog of her own until recently when her dog was put to sleep.  I just hope this doesn't make her miss her last dog even more.
I am just so frustrated right now.

Over the years I've been burned too often by friends, I don't ever rely on them anymore.  I had one cancel out on me the day I was going to be leaving.  I ended up having to cancel my trip.  I have a very reliable pet sitter that I use now.

That's a bummer. Some how I lucked out and have a next door neighbor that has a dog and we swap petsitting. If I'm only gone a couple days, it's easier to leave them in my house. I also have a couple back-up sitters - another neighbor - and my brother and sister-in-law generously take my crazy terriers into their house sometimes. Maybe for the future, you can seek out other neighbors who have pets - and volunteer to watch their pets for a weekend. Yes, all the above is done for free.

Well, I got it covered.  Now, all I have to do is finish getting ready for my trip.
