Is it okay to crush my dog's vitamin tablet in tuna water?

My dog, a 12-year-old Maltese, won't eat his vitamin tablet the normal way. I can get him to eat it by crushing it to powder and stirring it into water from a can of tuna, though. Is there any problem with doing it this way?

Is it a coated tablet ... that might indicate it shouldn't be broken.

Have you tried sliding it into a piece of liverwurst, or some ricotta cheese?

I don't think I would crush it, it is supposed to dissolve slowly.  I wrap April's in a small piece of bread with butter on or some peanut butter.

Two of my three dogs won't eat their vitamins unless they are crushed. I just dump them on top of the food and stir. We are kind of heavily into supplements right now, so for the meal with more supplements, I add Salmon Oil, which is good for them too.

I'd worry a little about mercury in the tuna water, but I'm not sure if the drained water still contains mercury, but it shouldn't be as much.

Alterntively, my dogs with take any pill if it is presented as a treat wrapped in soft cream cheese.
