HELP!!!!!

• HELP!!!!! Sharla Gibbons Posted : 1/2/2007 1:57:30 PM Well – I#%92m on another rescue mission. We saw this puppy late last night. He is about 3 months and we think it#%92s a pit bull. We don#%92t know though. He is terrified of people and won#%92t come up to us. We gave him some food and water last night but we had to dump it on the ground. He has a collar and tags, so if we can catch him we will be able to call his owners. He was at our neighbor#%92s house last night and wouldn#%92t leave their dog along. He was there this morning. I#%92m hoping I will be able to get him tonight after work. What can I do to get him to come to me. I know for sure this will be his second night outside and it was below 18 degrees and freezing last night. He is crying but we just can't get him to trust us. I just dont know what to do!! I thought about using one of our dogs to coax him into our back yard. He seems to want to be with another dog. Toss a few goodies his way and toss them closer and closer as he gets more comfortable. Make sure you completely ignore him. Any talking or eye contact may send him off. • ColleenC Posted : 1/2/2007 3:23:29 PM If he is small, you could also use a live trap.  I would try to get him to come to you, but if not, then set the live trap out at night covered with a blanket, and put some warm food, and water in there.  Canned food warmed up should smell pretty good to him.  It's not the ideal way to catch him, but with it being that cold, it might be necessary. 0 LIKE Like Share You have posted to a forum that requires a moderator to approve posts before they are publicly available. With a little help from our neighbors, our dog, and two hot dogs we were able to catch him [sm=clapping%20hands%20smiley.gif] He had his name, address, and phone number on his tag. We called the owners and they came and picked him up. He is a beautiful Pit Bull. I guess he went missing New Year's Eve when fireworks scared him off. They'd been looking for him every night since. He ended up being a few blocks from his home. I'm so happy he is warm and safe and back home. Thanks again. • Sharla Gibbons Posted : 1/3/2007 9:33:41 PM We couldnt even come close to him Monday night. He'd just look at us and bark, so at about 11 o'clock we decided to give up. It only took about 15 minutes last night and once we caught him, he was the sweetest puppy.
