    Of dogs and bikes...

What are those contraptions called that hook your dog up to your bike, along the back, so they can run with you? I know I read a thread about it before, but I can't find it.

I know one company makes one called  a springer, I would like to try one out, but I would have to transport my bike 20 miles to find somewhere safe to use it.

It is a Springer, I have two on my bike and they are great.  You can barely feel the dog pull, and it doesn't disrupt the bike.  The dogs & I used to bike 8-10 miles daily (darn ruptured achilles [:'(]) but I'm on the shelf so to speak. For now at least.

Interesting. Although my crew would look pretty ridiculous because as it is now I tow our baby behind my bike in one of the stroller things, and DH has other daughter in tow on one of the kid half-bikes! We already get laughs and "How cute!" all along the bike trail!

if you have a BIG dog, and get one of the Walkydogs, you may want to replace the string inside it with something stronger, like a metal cable. I speak from personal experience.

Pfft! Little dogs love to run! All 11 pounds of Teenie runs like crazy. She'll run til her pads wear off, and keep going, rotten little dog. I have to limit her, now, because she runs til she's bleeding.

Emma stops running when she's tired, and just looks at me[;)] I have to get off the bike and walk her for a bit, until she gets her second wind.
