Posting Pictures

I've been lurking on this site for a while and have posted some questions. I really have been trying to post pictures of my dog but can't. I get a "File to large" message. I'm trying to do it from a CD. I uploaded the files from the CD onto my computer and tried to post the images. Am I doing it wrong?

Make sure the photos are under 200kb TOTAL....or shrink them til they are. Try posting ONE at a time...make sure they are jpg/gif/txt...bmpetc are NOT supported.

If you are getting the message about size then that's the problem...make them smaller and you should be good.

OH and be sure to tick off the "embed pic in post" box if you want the pics to be inside the message and not on a link we then have to click on to view [

How do I shrink them? Do I do that in my software on my end or can I do that when I try to post them?

Are you using windows?

If so then the easiest way to resize is to use MSPAINT...open your pic...and it will display there as big as it would here....to give you an idea of size. Then click on 'IMAGE'...'stretch/skew'...then enter a percentage (the same on both) for horizontal and vertical and voila'! There will be shrinkage!

Bear in mind that the higher you put the percent..80% for ex...the LESS the pic will shrink as that means you want it to be 80% of it's original size. 50% of course shrinks it by half and 30% will really take it down!
