UGLY? who are they calling ugly?

Ok people why is it not ok to call a dog ugly but it is ok to make snide remarks about another person behind her back?! Are we all in high school or something?!

I've met Monica and the amount of animals she's been able to get out of a rural KY shelter is pretty cool in my book. Perhaps she's not the most well presented person, and a person that doesn't always make the best choice about naming animals, but hey she did get this dog adopted into a loving home didn't she?

I work in an animal shelter and have not seen a dog that I would call ugly, let alone name him that.  In my opinion that dog was adorable and deserved a loving home.  How ironic that an "ugly" dog gets adopted by a blind man.  I think they are a good match.  He looks like a Duke too.

Yep, the dog got adopted in spite of her choice of name.

That is indeed what's important...not her choice of name or the multiple levels of irony.

He's very handsome! I think he's going to be spoiled rotten by his new owner for the rest of his life. Duke may just be one of those dogs to receive a canine hero award down the road.  You never know--stranger things have happened.

Awww he is totally cute........where in the world does she get ugly from??  How sad, and yes Id have to think twice about a shelter director who would give her dogs bogus names like that.....[:@]

I think he is a special dog to be so natural at being a helper dog, almost a service dog, just by being himself. And regardless of what his shelter name was, blessings to that shelter and the director for giving him a chance when, by their regular rules, he would already be at the Bridge.

For Star Dog, I certainly disagreed with her judgement in naming him, but she is still a hero for having faith that his real owner was just around the corner, in time.

Wow.  How off base can you be?  I find Duke to be a very handsome guy!

I really think it was unfortunate and strange for the shelter director to name him that - a name that certainly doesn't speak to the charitable or kindly nature of the namer!  Surprising to say the least!

But I'm glad she and the staff rose above that misguided moment and pulled out the stops to find him a home. To Duke and his human's health and happiness!
