I feel like an idiot when.....

Do any of you feel like idiots when:
    • Your dog is going to the bathroom in front of, like, everybody, and they all seem to be staring at you
    • Your dog is gagging from pulling on the leash to see someone, and then walks up to the person - still gagging
    • Your dog snaps/growls at someone or their dog and they take it the wrong way
    • Your dog is on a retractable leash, and is walking like 30' ahead of you

If any of you have other "I feel like an idiot when..." ideas, please post them!

oh yeah, i feel like an aboslute goon when my dog goes in someones yard, i always wonder if they are watching out their window wondering why this girl is loitering in front of their house! further, i feel like an even bigger fool picking up the poo, im supposed to be the superior, yet i seem to take alot of poop from him [:D]

i feel like an idiot when my dog wraps around me and i have his leash all tangled in my mitten so i end up spinning around to get untangled.

    I do too, sometimes.

    I hate that! [:D]

I feel like an idiot when my normally well-behaved, obedient dog acts stone deaf in front of company. Sit? What's that?

When I forget that one of my dogs is a straggler and is left outside.  After all are nestled in bed the dog barks and then I realize my mistake.  I have to remember to do a headcount on the dogs' last outside time for the day.

I feel like an utter moron when my dogs wrap me up in their leashes while deciding they each have to sniff something in different directions, and I have to stop and do gymnastics to get untangled.

I felt like an idiot today because Conrad decided to have an issue with a pair of white gsds that we sometimes encounter. Now, granted once one of them got free of his leash and tried to mix it up a little with Conrad, but I still felt like I needed to apologize to the world for my dog's rotten behavior.

Also, not having breeds that are natural retrievers, they frequently make me feel stupid at the park by watching me throw their ball and not moving an inch to go get it.

my dog will go get it, but then rather than bringing it back he runs off and hides with it! we had been considering training to bird hunt, and i know he would be great at gettin the birds in the air, but i have a feeling he would grab the bird once it fell and run off with it. i wouldnt feel like an idiot then.......my dad would be the one hunting with him (we dont hunt), i dont think he wants to hunt the bird and the dog! Same here!  He just watches me throw it, and then walks away.  If he doesn't do that, he won't look in my direction at all!  Sometimes he chases it and then leaves it there once it stops rolling.  Sometimes he brings it back.......halfway.[:@]

I feel completely stupid when my pretty well trained dogs don't listen!  I'm the trainer and I'm supposed to have very well trained dogs!  99% of the time they are, but they have their moments when they forget everything!

I felt like an idiot today when Louise decided to 'alert' me to the fact that my neighbour was sitting next to me on my sofa by barking for a few minutes. The neighbour had never been over before and Louise is going through a barky phase where she sometimes will respond to 'quiet' and sometimes won't because making announcements has become very important. I'm working on it.

It totally didn't help when my neighbour, who does not have a dog but obviously enjoys The Dog Whisperer, started "TSST!"ing her (not with the "touch", thank god) and telling me I had to teach her to not bark. I'm trying!

i feel like an idiot when moca starts peeing in the house out of excitement, when i have a bunch of friends over. it is just too much distraction and excitement for a dog as hyper as her, but that doesnt make me feel any better. to my friends, who dont have dogs, it looks like she's not housetrained, and they must think that i clean up her pee all day long. but it's only when they are there. hmm, besides that i have given up feeling embarassed. i just dont have the energy for it. lol

I feel like an idiot when after bragging CONSTANTLY to everyone I know about how well behaved my dogs are, and all of the impressive things they've learned to do, we have company and I try to show all of the things I've bragged about, and my dogs look at me like I'm nuts or walk away. [8|]

I feel like an idiot when I go to my parents house, all three dogs in tow, and Ogre digs up her flowerbed, barks at her cats, and jumps on everyone he sees. This after I brag about what a wonderful, well behaved dog he is, and how he NEVER does anything wrong at home.

I feel like an idiot when Pepito decides the perfect time to forget his house training is right in front of company. Then after making a nice poop pile, he decides it's an even MORE perfect time to hump Axl.

I feel like an idiot when I spend a ton of time and money on delicious and elaborate home cooked meals, and they wrinkle their noses at them before wandering outside to eat some cat poop.

I feel like an idiot when I think Ogre is finally ready to handle a trip to a crowded place- like Petsmart- and he promptly let's me know how wrong I am by emptying his massive bladder the second we get inside the building. Usually in front of about 500,000 people.

I feel like an idiot when I go to the dog park, and I'm the only person their that doesn't have a lab or a little yappy dog. Then they give me dirty/worried looks and try to keep their dogs away from Ogre, because he's so big, even though he just wants to play. Usually the other dogs don't want to play with him either, and he *always* ends up just trailing behind the pack hoping one of the other dogs will aknowledge him.

I also feel like an idiot when everyone at the dog park shows off all of the fantastic retrieving tricks their labs can do...and when I throw a ball for Ogre, he ignores it. Heck, most of the time I'm just trying to get him to have a reliable recall. [:'(]

We have narrow streets and no sidewalk in our neighborhood, so when I walk my dogs I have to choose between walking in someone's yard, or taking up half the road. I feel like an idiot when a car is comming, I'm trying to maneuver my pack of three tangled up dogs out of the way, and the car ends up having to wait for me to figure out where exactly I need to move to. This morning I felt like an idiot becuase I forgot to take poop bags with me on our morning walk and Marlowe decided he needed to poop not once, but twice and both times I had to stand there and hope no one was looking. I'll go back and clean up on our evening walk. But anyone watching me out their window was probably cursing me up one wall and down the other for being an awful irresponsibel dog owner.

I gave up feeling stupid for stuff my dogs do. I just don't care that much. They are both decently behaved. Emma will not growl or bite unless she has good reason to. Teenie is stupid, and I make people around her aware of that. If they choose to shove their hands/dogs/children in her face, whatever they get is their own fault. They both walk nicely on their leashes, and act like dogs 100% of the time. What's wrong with acting like a dog[;)]?
