People really have no clue...

I was walking yesterday with my Fi and the dogs. We walked past a soccer field, where a bunch of young adults were playing soccer. One of the boys, as we walked past screamed..."A Pit Bull!" and ran. I was shocked. Number one, thats how people get bitten by dogs... when they flail, scream and run. Number two, if you look at the picture below, Snuffa ( the dog he was refering to) looks NOTHING like a pit bull! I hate to think of the number of pit bulls that are blamed for things, by truly clueless people, who wouldnt know a pit bull from a gerbil....[sm=angry.gif]

There was a story a few months ago about a basenji that was killed in Tucson because someone thought it was a pit. First of all, even if the dog had been a pit that is clearly no reason to kill it. Secondly, how exactly does a basenji resemble a pit aside from the short hair? People are very ignorant.

Some people are soooo clueless that it I were able to teach my cats to bark, I could surely convince these people that they were a new strain of "pocket Pits". ROFLLL, but sad at the same time.

Was it a brindle basenji? My brindle bench champion has been accused of being a pit/pitX. The tri color never has. Hmmm. . . .

Yeah seriously, talk about CLUELESS! That dog looks absolutely NOTHING like a Pit Bull! And just the way that kid said that was very disrespectful. I'd release my "Pit Bull" on him![

Actually, the strongest negative reaction I've ever gotten in regards to my dogs was to Jack the chocolate lab--who was 11 wks old at the time. I had him in Petsmart and this woman with two girls had a small dog. She said he was friendly and could meet Jack and when I put Jack down one of the girls seriously FREAKED--yelling "Get it away, get it away, I don't like strange dogs!" Her mother was clearly embarassed and apologized.
