Axl gets the worst of it though. Whenever I take him *anywhere* SOMEONE screams and runs away from the "pitbull" in the most dramatic way ossible, people grab their children, give me dirty looks, and alot of people tell me I should be ashamed of myself for keeping a "vicious dog." There have been times when I have taken Axl places and have come home in tears. The worst part is the effect it has on him...Axl is a big marshmallow, and he LOVES people. He gets so excited when he sees new people and always wiggles and wags his tail hopefully...and he always gets so startled and confused when people run away from him.

I once had someone RUN up to him, stomp their foot, and yell while I was walking him- and then run off. They told me from a few feet away that I was lucky that they "put that thing in its place" because if "it" had bitten him he would have sued. I was shocked, and Axl was so terrified that he urinated in the middle of the street. I honestly didn't know what to say and I was pretty much home before it had really sunk in just how stupid people can be.

While walking Sophie, a purebred long haired chihuahua, I heard a discussion from the window of someone's house (picture hick voices here):

Man: "Marge, get over here and see this. This girl's walkin' a squirrel!"

Woman: "Do ya think it's a squirrel?"

Man: "Heck ya, look at it!"
