In the shelter where I volunteer, there is only one dog left. He has been there around two months, and we are having the hardest time adopting him out. He is a seven month old pit mix (?). He looks to have a bit of hound in him also. He is the most laid back puppy I have ever seen. He is very good natured, doesn't exhibit typical puppy behavior- nipping, jumping, chasing, is housebroken, loves kids/other dogs/cats...and nobody wants him because of his probable breed.
We've had two applications for his adoption. The first was denied because the apartment manager where he was to live didn't want a pitbull in his complex. The second, a local family, was approved. After the wife showed Oliver off to some friends, we got a call saying she had changed her mind. I'm guessing the friends told her that he was a pit.
He is, by far the best dog that has passed through the shelter while I have volunteered there. He spends nights and weekends in a foster home, but spends the days at the shelter. Sad that he has to live these formative months in a state of limbo.
Here's sweet Oliver on the local news...
