AH GOLDENS!!!! Nothing happier than a wet dirty golden though we want them the other way.

Maxine is my 5th golden, I have had two labs too, my goal was 2 of each, but the city I live it restricts to 3 dog homes unless you have a kennel license. I am getting another golden in December, if I find one. Any one no anyone in Michigan with golden puppies ready for December?

Any way, with the exception of my first golden they have all been very reliable, dependable, kind, non agressive dogs. My husband and I do not have children (except the type with 4 legs and a tail) so when we have small ones over, they usually play for a while, then find a "safe zone" to get away from the kids. They have NEVER displayed any irritation, they just get overwhelmed. My first golden though I affectionately nicknamed the "anti golden" (like anti christ). She bit every one in the family at least once, was extremely pocessive of HER things (agressively) and as she got older displayed agression towards small children. Thinking back I firmly believe her behavior could have been squashed with training, but with a houseful off children no one seemed to have the time for her. She was in the family for 14 years, we just played by her rules and we all got along fine.

My brother in law, was one of the anti goldens bite victims. He didn't like dogs anyway. After she passed, I got a golden puppy "Amber". She was a wonderfull dog. She was about 6 months at Christmas time, and we went to my sisters. My nephew was just starting to toddle around. I had to bring my dog, because she couldn't stay home all day alone, and being a holiday we couldn't get a dog sitter. Anyway my nephew came up to Amber, and started stomping on her tail. She just lay there, not moving with a look on her face that said 'please make him stop'. My brother in law was astounded! He couldn't believe she didn't move, or anything. I told him, this is how a golden retreiver is supposed to act.

I will always have a golden for the rest of my life. I love my labs too, they are such a different breed, but the goldens have the number one place in my heart.

    GOLDENS RULE!
