Does your dog have a fussy time of day?

April is an angel the whole day long, whether I'm cleaning or anything else, but every evening after dinner she pests something awful, she doesn't seem to want to play, just sits along side of my chair and looks at me and sometimes barks a bit, she doesn't want out either.  I usually rub her belly and back for awhile, she wont let me read the paper either at this time.  This goes on for about a half an hour until I"ve had enough and finally say "Settle".  Wonder why she does this everyday.

...Wonder why she does this everyday.

Because she has you well trained?  [:D]  LOL  But, as long as you're enjoying it, and she stops when you ask her to, I don't see anything wrong with it.

Caleb has what we call his "Devil Momnets".  They usually happen  when he realizes we're not paying 100% attention to what he's doing.  He could be laying on his bed chewing a toy, and as soon as I open a book "Devil Puppy" appears- he'll be running from one place to the next, grabbing the plant, shoes, pillows, etc, and jumping onto the couch.  He normally gets 3-4 chances, then he goes in the xpen.  He's smart- those chances are always used for different behaviors. Example- one could be to leave the shoe, then he goes on to snagging the plant, next it will be jumping on the couch.  But hey, 5-10 minutes of "Devil Puppy" a day is nothing compared to what most puppies do

I'd have to agree =) She has you trained. My dogs aren't allowed to have a "fussy time of day". It bugs me when a dog is demanding and I will go out of my way to ignore the behavior. However..I initiate play and training frequently during the day, so it's not as if they are bored..they are the center of much attention in our house. If one of my dogs were being a pest I would put them on a down/stay or time out in the crate or bedroom.

Yes she has me trained well, that I admit. [:D] but for all the joy she gives me she is worth it and she actually is a very well trained dog.  Never in a million years would I put her in a crate or make her in a down position because she wants my attention.  All I have to do is say "settle" and she WILL stop.  Just wondered if any others did this at a certain time of day.  My children always had a fussy time of day too, would you say that they had me trained too. I totaly understood what meant in your first post, and I'm sorry if my answer sounded preachy.  Honestly, I was trying to be funny.  I could tell from your post that, like me, you're well trained, but so is your dog.  Our dear Mick was very much like April.  We could allow him to do things you wouldn't ordinarily let a dog do (like wrestle with me as if I were a dog) all because we knew when we said "Enough" he'd stop.  That's why he was allowed to sit on our laps, too- all we had to do was tell him "No" when he asked, and that was it.
Well trained owners of the world, unite!  [:D]
