Telepathic dogs

I don't know if dogs are telepathic or not but my dog always knows when I'm coming home.

When my father passed away we had to go make the funeral arrangements.  My whole family was at our house within an hour of his death.

When we left to make the arrangements I left my dog in the house with all my aunts, uncles, cousins, and their kids. My uncle drove us to the funeral home, cemetery, and flower shop.  when we went home( i don't know how long we were out) my dog was outside waiting in the corner where she always waits for me.  When I went inside my aunt was surprised that the dog knew I was almost home because she was telling us that the dog was asking her to go out just a minute ago.( she'll go up to people and whine to get their attention. and run to the door).

So i don't know if she is or isn't. Just my experience.

Callie, I totally get what you're saying... I tend to think it's a Western thing (maybe not, but I did encounter a lot of it since I moved here) that people will NOT accept anything that can't be proved by science/logic and think it's all myth/fantasy/etc. There are so much that we don't know, for instance think about things we *thought* were impossible a hundred years ago...

I just think we get too wrapped up with our big brains and opposable thumbs that we forget to listen to everything there is to hear.

Native people are told to hear the lessons in every tree and rock.  I do think that we humans are often too arrogant to fathom the possibilities...

i don't think they are telepathetic... i just think they have really good ears, and often recognize certain sounds that signal someone is home.....

Kira knows the sound of our car doors closing... even with all the doors and windows closed in the house... I figured this out when i was at home watching tv, and she was laying the couch next to me... i didn't hear a thing, but was watching her and her tail started wagging about the time she closed her car door, and then she was at the door as soon as my fiancee entered the house... So i just think she knows the sound of our cars, and the sound of us coming up our stairs to our townhome... i always see kira when i get to the door, walking lazily to the door waking up from her naps...

In Marta William's book "learning Their Language" she makes an interesting point. Basically she says that if we humans as a majority, were to actually acknowlege that creatures other than ourselves were capable of experiencing emotion and expressing that emotion, it would completely shake the foundation of everything we think we "know". IE how in good conscience could we then exploit animals for our own gains (research, breeding, factory farming, etc. to name a few) if we acknowledged that they were capable of emotion that we only attribute to our own species? Just food for thought as I'm not looking to start a debate here, am just laying out a different way of thinking, whether you agree with it or not.
