Abused dogs that kill/attack their abusers?

I was just wondering if anyone could think of any cases where an abused dog has killed their owner in order to stop the abuse. If anyone has a link to a news story or article, I would greatly appriciate it if you posted it [

]. This is for a project I am doing about victims and the use of deadly force as a response, and I would like to use the example of an abused dog. Thanks for reading!

You'll need to hit the library for that one. Several libraries, maybe. I'm going to guess offhand that it's going to be awfully hard to find canine abuse victims that respond with violence. Dogs tend to "break" pretty easy and accept abuse as "normal". Now, an interesting study would be dogs that grew up abused that begin to lash out because they are taken away from what they know. I've seen THAT a couple times. Very rare, but it does happen.

Now, I'm not talking about breeds or individual dogs that are bred to be human-aggressive. I'm just speaking from my experience with a breed that tends to be pretty biddable and unfortunately is widely exposed to abuse. [sm=sad.gif]

I have to agree with Becca.

I have seen ALOT of dogs whose owners treat them horribly, and the dogs are very submissive, urinating when they come around etc.

I have also seen dogs taken out of horribly abusive situations who turn horribly agressive. Mind you this is a dog who was kicked and beat all his life. You place them in a situation where all you want to show them is kindness and love, and because they have never had those emotions, they will bite and growl.

You should have watched CSI last night....It had a dog that did that.

A man I work with was attacked and almost killed by his dog, but he didn't abuse the dog. Neglect would be a more appropriate term for that situation. The dog had food and water and shelter, but little to no human interaction.

Yea I thought it might be more common for the abused dogs to become conditioned to that treatment, but I am hoping to stumble upon a case where the dog lashes out to eventually protect itselft and end the abuse. Thanks for the responses so far. Im going to continue looking and will post if I find something. If anyone happens to know of a particular story, I would greatly appriciate it being posted [
