It's time to say goodbye

    It's time to say goodbye

The hardest thing one ever has to do, I think, is say goodbye to someone they love. Tomorrow, I have to say goodbye to my "Pretty Girl" Twinkle Star.

Twink is my old moggie cat, first cat I ever had, first pet that was ever "Just mine". I got her for my 6th birthday way back on September 12th, 1991. My pretty girl is 15 now. She still walks around and grooms herself, but she's losing weight, and she's going to the bathroom where she shouldn't.

I honestly don't know if putting her down is right or not. Perhaps she is. She can't tell me if she's suffering. I'd like to think she's not, but perhaps I'm deluding myself.

You always hope for one more birthday, one more Thanksgiving, one more Christmas....but they can only give you so many "one more's" before you have to let them go, or else you're being selfish.

I've spent the day with her, just petting her, holding her, telling her how much I love her, and that I'm sorry that she's not feeling well. The best thing is, I know she'll be better once she's gone, but the worst is, the house will be absolutely empty without her, and it just won't feel like home.

She's my baby, and I love her more than anything else in the world...even Mouse. And we all know how much I love Mouse.

I feel like there's this big gaping hole in my heart already, and that it will never close.

Why is it so hard to say goodbye?

Aw, Xeph, I'm so sorry. I will be praying for peace in your heart. Take care my friend.

So sorry you are going through this, I know how hard it is to say goodbye to loved one.  You and Twinkle Star are in my thoughts.

So, so sorry Xeph.  It wouldn't hurt so much if they didn't add so much to our lives.  Spend this time showing Twinkle how much you cherish her and soaking up the love she gives back to you.

If it is her time, may it be peaceful. Her life has been blessed as your has, too. If her bad days outnumber the good days, it may be time to move on to the Bridge, where every day is good.

And it will hurt you like the freshly open wound that it would be. May you take comfort in an end to her suffering and release to the Catnip Fields. And know that she is in good hands. "When you have done so unto the least of these, you have done so unto Me."

And, as quoted by Viggo Mortensen in "G.I. Jane", "I never once saw a wild thing feel sorry for itself."

Even though you may hurt, realize that she won't hurt anymore.

    Big hug and doggy slobber,

Xeph, I especially know your pain right now, and will keep you and your special friend in my thoughts.  Just tell her to look for the handsome tuxedo cat and his ginger tabby sidekick - they'll show her around when she gets there - and I'm quite sure that Miss Dancer will keep the dogs from chasing her till she settles in and realizes that they can't catch her!

Sorry to hear this Xeph. It's never easy telling the ones you love good-bye or when its the time to finally say your last good-byes. You gave her a wonderful life and she will love you always. You and Twinkle will be in my thoughts.
