OMG - I'm so jealous!  It looks like so much fun over there!  He is quite a looker!  I can't wait to hear about his antics.  It sounds like he hasn't had many toys to play with previously.  :(  And you guys are a couple after my own, sleeping with the dogs in shifts!  They're alll very lucky to have you.

OMG! You are SOOOOOOO sunk!! rofl He's just beautiful. I too love the face shot. Your DH is awesome too, taking a shift! Have you decided on a name yet?

What a guy! I haven't been around lately ( [sm=sad.gif] ;) so I don't know his story. Why don't you keep up the theme and name him Black? [:D] (Although I like Tar)

Well, I'm not too sure of his story, actually. He's only been in the program since August 1, and he was living with another foster home until we got him. He's very young...barely a year...but just old enough to have heartworms. His previous foster home had five or six other dogs, but Tar was the largest and goofiest. He needed a quiet place to go through hw treatment, so he's staying with us (if you can consider my house quiet lol). I'm sure we're going to adopt him...I can't think of a reason why we wouldn't...so I'm giving him a couple of weeks to adjust to life here before we start treatment.

Meanwhile, Tar is a booger! He steals shoes and looooves to play (and eat cat beds and buttons). I don't know how I'm going to keep him quiet during treatment. I don't know if a crate will hold him for that long LOL.

Aww, poor baby has heartworms so young?  One thing bad about the deep south is the skeeters.  We had a pittie in the other day who is right around a year old and she tested positive.

At least since you went through the recovery time with both Brown and Grey, you know what to expect.

Nearly every dog we take in is positive. It's rare that one isn't (unless they're REALLY young). The mosquitos are horrible right now. I was practically eaten alive the past two nights when I brought the boys out for one last time. I'm surprised *I* won't have heartworms by the end of this mosquito season lol.

Tar looks like he is fitting in! Both name and personality are a good match for you!

I keep coming back to see pictures of Tar.  He's so handsome & looks like a typical lab...full of life & spirit. :o)  Give him a hug from me.  How are the boys doing with him????

Brown and Tar took to one another with no problem. Both loooooooooooove to play. Grey took a little while to warm up to Tar, but that wasn't a surprise because Grey tolerates everyone/everything, but he's just not big into playing with many other dogs. Within a few days, though, Grey started giving play bows, and when Tar and Brown start playing, Grey joins in on the barking, growling, and running.

As far as the cats go, Deuce could care less. He spends his time sleeping on our bed, and when he's not sleeping there, he's sleeping on the dog beds. Charlie finally stopped hissing at Tar, so I'm sure it's only a matter of time until he starts harrassing him/humping him too. Evil is as evil does. [sm=evilfire.gif]
