First I want to say sorry I haven't really been around. I've been lurking but not posting much, it's been a really horrible/stressful few weeks and the past few days have really been unpleasant. Hopefully it's all behind me now, there is only so much a girl can take, lol. Things are definitely looking up so I'm posting again, I kinda stopped so I wouldn't be too much of a crazy b!tch to anyone.
But the real point of this post.....
Ben passed his second training class! He did so well, and I am so proud of him. We started working on emergency stops and distance sit/stays as well as reinforcing general obedience, so I am feeling really prepared now for starting the Bronze level of his CGC soon. The class definiitely helped my feeling of Ben and me working as a team in terms of training - I am reading his cues better, and giving my own more effectively. He even did some "helping out" in class, since the owner of his favourite dog there was having a little trouble with recalling and distractions, we did some work on getting Millie to recall right past him. Since they LOVE each other and will play whenever they get the chance, Ben is a BIG distraction for her. She started recalling past him really well, so I think her owner is happy too.
The key to our training success? Sea jerky. 100% fish snacks - as far as I can figure out, there is nothing Ben won't do for a bite, lol. Since he's not getting treats for every behaviour now, he will do anything just in the hope that I have some. [

Brag over, off to read some more.
