    I know she's a lap dog but...

My pug, Emmy, is on my lap literally whenever I will let her (she is sitting there as I type this).  I'd like to beleive its just pure affection and "Pug-a-lisciousness", but is there some kind of dog message she's sending me? Percy, my Pekingese, likes to be on my lap every once in a while, and Em sometimes will try to kick him off (I don't let her).  Just a weirdo question and I wondered in anyone had an answer. Thanks[&:]

Be glad your lap dog is actually a suitable size - I get squashed when Dodger needs a cuddle (and he's not that big!)[:D

She may be trying to convey her status; if you are alpha, she might want to be as close to you as possible to confirm her status.  Or she might consider herself your protector.  But given her breed, she probably just wants to be as close to you as possible to lap up the attention!
The only thing you need to watch is that she doesn't assume she belongs on your lap whenever she decides.  Make sure you invite her up.

Tootsie, my corgi, is also in my lap always. She is always invited up and gets down when told. Definitely not a status thing with her. Shes a total mommas girl..

All I can say is be glad that Emmy is on your lap, not on your face; My dog has jumped up, and licked me for 30 minutes straight! I'm pretty sure that THIS is a status issue. I too have to remember to "Invite" daniel before petting him.

Oh, I totally love that shes such an affectionate little weirdo.  Its just gotten to the point that she will actually follow me around the house (including into the bathroom) and try to sit on/with me.  She literally makes me laugh out loud at least once a day.
