Dog's know when you're not feeling well.

I'm currently at work and my wife called me with a story of what happened to her this morning.  She woke up this morning not feeling well as it seems she's coming down with the flu.  Anyways after being up for about an hour with our dog Boomer she all of a sudden got ill and had to go to the bathroom to throw up.  As she was going to the washroom she saw Boomer take one of our shoes and run off with it (a big no no, but he tries every once in awhile).  Obviously at that point she didn't care and did what she had to in the washroom.  Well not 10 seconds after she was in there Boomer came into the washroom sat there and was staring at her and whining and continued to lay down right beside her until she felt well enough to get up from the floor and into bed.  She was there a good 5 -10 minutes and Boomer was there nice and quiet and comforting her.  Amazing how dogs can sense when we're not feeling well or sad. I've heard of dogs doing this but this was our first experience with Boomer.

OH GOOD BOY BOOMER!  We used to have a Jack Russell, Luci, who was the orneriest little JR you could imagine... EXCEPT when you were sick.  When you were sick or upset, she would literally come over and put her little paw on your leg or your arm and with eyes that just bespoke her emotions, would whine with you... <3  She was a sweetie but hard as nails at times!

iluvjr's - thats funny that you mentioned your JR would put his paw on your arm and leg.  I forgot to mention that's what Boomer did as well, he layed on my wifes leg as she was sitting on the floor.  Amazing creatures dogs are. Gotta luv em!!

ABSOLUTELY!  It always amazed us at how tough Luci was that when something like that happened to a person, no matter who it was, she would go and empathize immediately with them.  I believe they are definitely more deep than we give them credit for!

when i was younger we had a german shepard that no matter where you were if you were sick she would follow you around, cuddle on the floor below you or cuddle with you on the bed.
Nelson my husband and my berner, will not stop cuddling either....i think thats why i'm a dog person....i know my husband won't even kiss me when i'm sick with a cold cause he doesn't want it....LOL

Dogs sure do epitomize unconditional love, don't they?

And it seems to help as well...much better than aspiron or chicken soup.

Boy that's the truth... my heart dog Katie always knew when I was sick or upset, in some cases I think she knew before I did. She wa so intuitive. When anything was wrong she was glued to me, and it was so much more comfort than anything else could have been.

Awww! Good little Boomer trying to help his mommy get well. It is the greatest thing to have when your sick.

When ever I'm sick I have two pets with me trying to get me better and keep me warm. In fact Blue tries to give me his teddy bear.

Romeo knows I am sick before I know.  He starts licking my face and hands and stays very close, his litlle face shows so much concern and he tries to be the best he can be by going outside and pooping right away and coming back in.

Romeo gets very protective of me is when I am sick.  He parks himself in front of my bedroom door and no one is allowed in without his permission first. [8D] Once he has decided you are not going to bother me, he lets you in, but runs to my bed  and settles quite nicely next to me, to make sure nothing is done he does not agree with.  When whomever is visiting leaves, he licks my face and goes back to his post.  [:D]
