• I feel so bad! I stepped on Gonzo! Julia Posted : 9/13/2006 10:33:04 AM My little Gonzo was playing underfoot the day before yesterday when I accidentally stepped on his paw.   He screamed and cried like a baby and has been limping around ever since.  I am pretty sure it is one of his toes that is bothering him.  I told myself that if he wasn't better by today that I would make a vet appointment.  What should I do!?!  He cries when I wiggle his little toe, and I can tell there is discomfort.  I feel just awful watching the little fella limp around the house. Should I take him to the vet?  Would wrapping it help?  What kind of pain reliever is okay for dog? In humans there is not much that can be done for a broken toe but not so in dogs.   Let us know what happens. (better late than never):  I took Gonzo to the vet the day after I posted this to see about his toe and to get his shots and checkup.  The vet said his toe would be fine and just to keep him from getting too rowdy.  He is all better now.  I found a really good vet who spent lots of time answering all my questions.  He also asked me if I realize that Gonzo is going to be HUGE!  (he is 3 months and weighs about 25lbs already!!!)  I love BIG DOGS! She would stand next to me and then move her foot over onto mine and step down really hard! It always made me laugh.
