    vacation worries

My husband has booked a camp site to take me south for Christmas. It's a very sad time of year for me (I am a widow and he is # 2, married for 5 years) and he said this year he is taking me to the sunshine. Problem is, he made camp reservations for two weeks. HELP! Now, I have a young man that house sits for me and is here as much or more than I would be..he LOVES the dogs..in fact my 14 year old will break the screen door down to go greet him! He is responsible and loving and a Christian. But he is NOT ME and I am really anxious about leaving my babies for that long. We took Leela camping once and she is a great camper...but that's a long car ride and hours away from her pack. I don't want to leave ANY of them!! But it's such a nice jesture. Maybe I should ask him to boil it down to one week????? I don't want to hurt his feelings! (DAMSEL IN DISTRESS)

I know it's hard to leave our fur kis home when we vacation.  Been there, done that.  [:)]  We visited my in-laws for a month once, and had to leave Mick home (as well as the cat).  However, like you, we had a very good friend that Mick absolutely adored and who adored Mick (we all lived at the same camp).  Not only did our friend basically move into our house to care for Mick, he took him to his part-time job in the evenings with him, too, as well as to his parents' house for Thanksgiving.  From the sounds of your post, you have the same kind of friend.  As long as you are comfortable with this young  man, I think it would be a good idea for him to take care of your furbabies while you're away.

Sounds to me like you've got a great opportunity, both for you and for your dogs.  Go and enjoy yourself.  It sure sounds like the dogs will.  [:)]

That sounds like a nice, caring guy you have.  And it is great that you have a wonderful pup sitter.  It is hard to think of leaving the dogs for any time.  So don't think about it.  Just buy a new bathing suit and think about the sunshine and all of the good things.  And go!!![sm=wink.gif]

Trudy goes on all of our trips. I cannot sleep without knowing where she is. It is nice though, if you have someone you can trust and he really wants to do it.

I think it sounds nice. You can always call and check on the doggies. Good luck.[:)]
