Two males.....

Brown and Grey hit it off immediately, and Grey is very dependent upon Brown. I've never had a problem with them together, and Grey came to us with a boatload of issues so it wouldn't have suprised me if he would have scuffled with Brown at least once. Instead, they're thick as thieves and definitely partners in crime.

We have two males as well. We were advised of the same-sex hierarchy when searching for another dog, so we brought Julius into our home as a puppy (after having Loki by himself for 2 years), and they get along wonderfully. We've had no problems with fighting at all, although I suppose it all depends on the personality of the original dog. Loki's just a happy-go-lucky guy who loves other dogs, so he was thrilled with the addition of a "dog brother"! [:D]

We've had Red a 5 yeear golden neutered mix for 2 years and jsut brought Zeus, a 7 year old English bulldog neutered in.  They are fine together (both males).

Red is a submissive dog, Zeus is in his own world almost toothless.

I would think neutering, breed and age have a lot to do with fighting. (mostly neutering)

My in laws have two male dogs, a Pekingese and a Poodle.  The Poodle was brought in as a pup and there has never been any problems between them.

I had two females, Shih Tzu mix and a Cockerspaniel Mix (cockerspaniel was brought in as a puppy) and they never fought.  We now have another Shih Tzu mix that's around 1 year old and while she bounces off of everything, the other is fine watching.  None of them ever fought.

My opinion is... I think it depends on the temperament of the dog.
