    Sometimes the worrying pays off...

I always worry about Sierra when I'm not around her. I don't leave her in the yard alone, I don't leave her in the car alone, stuff like that.

Well I got some new nextdoor neighbors about a week ago. Sierra met their dogs through the fence (I saw two - a Rottie and a smaller dog, not sure of the breed).

So I was talking to another neighbor today (who loves Sierra) and she mentioned that the new neighbors had some sort of poison thrown into their backyard. They apparently had 3 dogs - the 2 that I saw (Rottie and smaller dog) and another older German Shepherd.   Anyways, their Shepherd is dead, and the Rottie is at the vet - they're not sure if he'll make it.

Thank goodness I worry so much.... Or Sierra could be dead right now [:(]
I feel so sorry for the neighbors.

Oh wow, I know how you feel. I hesitate to leave Maisie outside alone even when I can watch her through a window! At least you know now..

One of our kind neighbours tossed cooked bones over the fence into our yard when no one was home. The vet had to sedate my corgi to get the shards of bone out of her bowel. She could have died. And we live nowhere near the road. Fortunately, that was not a malicious act, but a simple matter of poor education, which has now been remedied. Still, it's a chilling thought that someone could deliberately try to kill your dogs.

Oh my god! What kind of lunatic does that? Those poor people, poor dogs.... Good thing Sierra was safe indoors.

Absolutely terrible stories.. [:(] Good for you, listening to your instincts! I've always been worried about the same.. whether a good intentioned neighbor or not; there's always a chance of something happening. A good lesson to always keep our eyes peeled. Our neighborhood is filled with teens going to & from school. After hearing of an incident involving some of the little snots, I try to keep the dogs extra quiet when we're out back- you know how some teens can be, filled with so many "bright ideas". And no dog/animal should be a part of them! Especially not mine..no siree! [:@]

Those poor dogs! That is so sad... I am glad that Sierra was safe though.

That is so scary! I live in (I hope) a safe area, so I feel comfortable leaving my dogs in the yard. But even in a safe area, you never know what kind of psycho will come along.

I'm so glad that Sierra is safe! How sad for your new neighbors though. [:(]

I worry about the same thing!!  I'm glad Sierra was safe but I feel awful for that family and those poor dogs!!  Someone was tossing chicken bones into our side yard (road is next to it) a while back. I don't think someone was trying to poison them but it scares me just the same.  Sometimes worrying DOES pay off!
