    Princess update...

Not sure if many will remember, but a few months ago I took Princess into my home from the Shasta County animal control. She was raised by children and had no manners. I spent a couple months on some basic obedience, and just loving her. My fiance and I decided that we still wanted a German Shepherd, so Molly went to her new home in Sacramento. Her needs would be met a lot more than they could at my home. So I'd say she was a very successful foster.

It's been over two months since we met half way and brought her to her new owner. And boy was she happy. She saw Princess and fell inlove.

Princess is now Molly, and Molly is as happy as can be. She gets an owner that will love her for hours on end. And Molly is exactly what D wanted. A small to medium terrier type dog. And Molly was already potty trained, and I worked very hard to get her to walk politely on a leash.

And because of Princess, I have been thinking about fostering once a year. Not until after the baby is about a year old, but what could it hurt. I got so much out of helping Princess. She looked so desperate on Petfinder that I could NOT leave her there. I had the space at my house, and time to train her a little.

This is D's update from the other day, and a couple pictures.

    Hi Shannon,

She's doing great.  And you're right, she has a very cute face.  She still stays in her box during the day when I'm at work, but she seems to like it.  She eats breakfast in there and waits in it every morning when I'm getting ready to go.  She's doing great on car rides.  I take her with me whenever I can.  She's not gotten sick yet.  She just sits in the front seat and looks out the window.  She was kind of scared of guys, but is getting much better with my two sons.  However, I have a friend named Mike, who she adores!!  And she wasn't scared of him at all.  She barks quite a bit when she's out in the yard, but usually when I holler "Molly, no bark!” she'll stop.  She needs lots of attention, which I gladly give her.  She's a pet me-nag!  And I love it.  You know, if you're ever out my way, you're welcome to come visit.  I'm glad you care.

I guess it would help to add the pictures...

It is so neat to hear successful forever home stories!  Glad you were there for Molly for the interim.  I've done that myself and it is a rewarding experience to see a dog and person "click" when you hand them over!  Good for you!
