    Noticing this???

I guess i have been noticing this often, but a lot of newcomers first post are just spam for a new/different site! has anyone else noticed this, i'm getting a little tired of it!Angry

It happens all the time! I try and get them and if they truely are promoting their own site for profit I take out the links.

Please feel free to create a ticket for any post you feel is spam and I'm sure to look at it and handle what needs to be done

It just bothers me how someone just feels as though they can go to an established site and think that eveyone will be willing to join theirs!

This may sound dumb on my part, but what do you mean by "create a ticket" on threads. I guess i'm just a little slow at times! lol!

Well, on this subject, I posted a link once and it was removed [&o].... not sure why because it was like my 300th post, the site was NOT mine, there was no benefit to me at all, I was just trying to share with other i-doggers the fact that the place had free shipping for any order.

Hmm, that's annoying. I wonder if it was because the site competes with dog.com. Still doesn't seem like it should've been removed.

Personally the people who come online and spam the site don't bother me, because regular forum member come along and tell the people to leave pretty quickly. And Jamie is great about removing the links right away. I think people just don't read the rules of the forum--or they are used to forums where the rules are not enforced. They're just out to promote themselves, and you can't really blame most of them for wanting to make a buck.

ya, that is true but it just bothers me the most when people want us to "join" their site. What, do they think that we are just going to get up and leave?
    • Gold Top Dog
Yeah, I agree that it's weird for people to get online and think that we'll switch to their forum. But you have to remember that they probably haven't spent anytime on this site and don't realize what a great group dynamic we have here. This is really the best dog forum I've ever found.

ya, that's very true! apprently they havn't been here long when it's theri very first post! How ignorant some people can be!!!

You said it, this is the best dog forum around! a lot of educated people here!

As a newcomer I made a few remarks bout Nutro foods which may have come across as a marketing bit, for that I apologize.  It was only my opinion.
Second mistake I made was not introducing my 4 furballs, again I apologize.  This is the first forum of this type that I was fortunate enough to find.  In the last few days I have learned a great deal just by reading posted message.
I wish I had something like this available years ago to address questions & concerns about my pets!  Thank you all  -AJ

    AJ--

Great pics!! And I'm so impressed you get everyone to pose together so nicely!!

I'm like the bad parent -- lots of pics of Jessie (my "first born"), a handful of pictures of Cody cat (my "middle child") and no pics of Casper kitten (who is gorgeous and should have pics, but Mom got lazy by fur buddy number three).

The worst part is, my sis bought me a fabulous digital camera for Christmas, and it's still in the box. I keep saying I'm going to take it out and read the directions and take some photos, but somehow, I never quite do.

But thanks for sharing pics of your family -- your fur budies are gorgeous!!!

Thanks Jan, but they pose for me.  It helps to keep the camera handy [;)]
We got lucky when we adopted, they all get along!  We just had to train the dogs to stop chasing cats.

Yup, I'm thinking it must have been because it was a competitor's site...

Very cute pictures! Welcome to the board. I wouldn't worry about sounding like a walking advertisement for something on this forum. It's usually pretty easy to tell the people who are posting for their own personal gain.

But your second mistake was a biggie! It's mandatory to introduce yourself right away, so that we can see how incredibly cute all your animals are! [;)] Thanks for correcting that. You have quite a crew. They really do pose well for pictures, so if you have any more, we'd love to see them.
