Two Puppies

I believe that I might have made a big mistake....One of my family members recently acquired two havanese puppies from a reputable breeder. Both have wonderful personalities but after further research im starting to realize what a big mistake we might have made. Originally we were aware that havanese could suffer mild separation anxiety and since we were gone for as much as 6 hours a day the breeder recommended we get two littermates to keep each other company. We have had them for a week so I don#%92t know if it#%92s even possible for us to return one (because of the breeder contract and my family#%92s attachment) but if it is possible is it worth it? Right now we walk and train them separately but they are already showing mild anxieties from being separated from each other............Thanks in advance!!!

Well i was wondering (if it was going to be that much of an issue )that it would be wiser to keep one and return the other since we got the only a couple days ago............

This is a mistake often made.

"They can keep each other company! That way Fifi won't feel so lonely!" This is a misconception and raising two pups together, while not impossible, is really NOT for the inexperienced owner! As you are seeing, they often bond to each other, and, instead of having separation anxiety over YOU they have it over their fuzzbrother.

I've seen this many times, and there is one pair of dogs that comes into the grooming salon that I absolutely dread because heaven forbid you separate them for a bath and clip. I can't STAND it! They howl, scream, yelp, and carry on, because they're not together!

Normally I'm for the "you clean up the mess you made and keep that dog" thing, but quite honestly, if you only got the other dog a couple days ago, it may very well be in the best interest of both the dogs and YOU to return the newest pup, or you're in for a world of trouble
