    Grrr... Neighbor's dogs

I just have to vent for a while. I don't know what else to do about my neighbor and her dogs. She has two GSDs that she owns for the purpose of breeding and hardly cares about the dogs health at all. six mo. ago the bich had puppies and now she is heat agean and my neighbor is letting them breed. Everytime I look over to her yard they are stuck together. I know her dogs are not helth tested and they do not have proper vaccination or have had any medical care. Over the summer her bich had a strange soar on her nose and it looked like it was spreeding, she did nothing about it. I asked her if her dogs are vaccinated and she said that she doesn't have the money to get them vacc. Last time she let them breed they had 7 puppies and she sold them for $400 each. They are AKC registered but they are not shown, not trained and they are feed ol'roy.

Grr... I called the local animal control but there is nothing I can do. To me letting the dog breed every heat is abuse. She says she does it to pay for college. Ugh, I go to the same college as her and I know there is finacial aid out there that doen't invole selling puppies. I've talked to her lanloard and he is very upset about how she cares for her dogs and has given her several warnings but somehow has to big of a heart to kick her out of the house or force her to get rid of the dog. I know it sounds bad to say get rid of but honestly they would be better in someone elses care then hers.

Now this is what makes me even more upset! These two dogs are the same ones that jumped my 6ft picket fence (he climbs over it) and attacked my dog in my yard. They hurt Georgia so bad she had to get staples down her back. Gizmo has fear agression issues because of these dogs, they have tried to attack her also but didn't hurt her. Just today I let Giz out and the male dog jumped the fence agen and ran after Giz, Giz ran into the house before he had time to get her. It made me so upset. I put a leash on him and walked him to her front door and handed her the dog. "She just said thanks for bringing him back, he's just a little mean to everyone now that Deanie is in heat" I was to upset to say anything so I just left. Next time I might just take the dog to the shelter myself if he jumps the fence.

When those dogs attacked Georgia did you call Animal Control? They may not get seized for being bred, but they are agressive and the fact that they jump you fence to get at your dogs is a sign of agression. I'd be pretty durn tempted to put the BOTH in my car and take them to Animal Control and tie them there

Yes I did but there was no eveidence that thoes dogs were the ones that attacked her. I came home and found her in the yard in shreads, it was no question that it was a dog attack. A few days later they jumped the fence and I saw them that time and went after Giz just a week before her surgery, they didn't hert her because I grabed the hose and sprayed them away before they could do any damage. I called but agean with no pics to prove it was them I could not do anything. I did what I could and my neighbor denied that her dogs are agressive and that it was them.

You need to call animal control the next time.  They will get the dog and if you have laws requiring proof of rabies vaccinations, identification etc she could conceivably rack up some pretty darned expensive fines.  Also, IRS might be interested in knowing that she is running a business from home without a license...

Just remember, it is not the animals' fault, it is the owner.  Rather than tie them up at A/C maybe you could contact a GSD rescue who might be interested in getting involved.  Otherwise, if the animals jump the fence and are in your yard...leave them there, call A/C, take pictures, etc and wait for A/C to show up.  Even tho they are contained - they are in YOUR yard, not theirs and should be considered "animal at large".... reason enough for a/c officer to start writing tickets...see the money meter move up and up....

humm.. never thought of that one...

I agree to that, at least for this case. I've owned a GSD and he was a great dog, loyal, protective and a big sweatheat, nothing like my neighbors dogs. She is a nice person and I get along with her, infact we agreed that in the morning she will not let her dogs out before 7am so I let Giz out around 6 and call her inside before 7, worked out so far. I kinda think in a way she is just cluless on how to care for her dogs. I helped her for her first welping, I figure for the sake of the pups I better be there. I just didn't realize she would make a business out of it.

Just had to vent for a while after my dog was nearly attacked by a dog defending his prize. And the noises I hear coming from her yard are a little disterbing in a way, now that her bitch is in heat she leaves both her dogs outside most of the day because she doen't want them doing that inside...eww... I can't put up a new fence, cost of good fences are so pricy and I'm not planing on living here for much longer. I've even thought about putting a shock line on that fence so he doesn't jump it but I don't want to be crule.

What a hideous situation. You must feel like you might at any moment have to leap between this testosterone addled monster and your pup, and in your own backyard! I don't hold with electric shock treatments or fences, but in your case, I might just consider it. You have your dog to protect. But then, it sounds like the vicious dog would just bust right through the fence with barely a bat of the eyelid. I really hope you can find a way to deal with this situation. It's horribly unfair when bad owners inflict their dogs on you, let alone when the dogs inflict themselves on you and the owners don't give a damn. Best of luck with it. Wish I could be more helpful.
